THE POSTING of large shocking photos that testify to the crimes of the Independent State of Croatia continued today in Sarajevo, and one of them is now above the Eternal Fire in the city center after it appeared this morning at the Marijin Dvor.
As the Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo Milan Trivić told the Klix.ba portal , this is the most famous historical photograph that testifies to the suffering of Sarajevans during the rule of the Ustasha regime of the Independent State of Croatia when 55 people were hanged at Marijin Dvor just before the liberation of the city.
As Trivić added, from 1941 to 1945, about 10,000 people were killed in Sarajevo, including 7,000 Jews.
"A commemoration will be held tomorrow to pay tribute to the victims of the Second World War in Sarajevo, and the organizer of the commemoration is the Alliance of Anti-Fascists and Fighters of the National Liberation War in Bosnia and Herzegovina (SABNOR). that big banner with one of the most famous historical photographs and documents from that period was placed ", said Trivić.
"It is not the religious but the political aspect of the Mass that is disputed"
As Trivić explained in an interview for Klix, the commemoration will take place starting at 12:00 at Marijin Dvor, the place where the citizens of Sarajevo were hanged. As he emphasized, no special program will be organized, but he invited all citizens who want to come and pay tribute and respect to the victims of Sarajevo in a peaceful and dignified way.
Trivic especially drew attention to the fact that the commemoration is not a kind of protest against the Mass because, as he emphasized, it is meaningless because one cannot protest against a religious event.
"The problem with this Mass is that it has its religious part which is not disputable, but also the political part which is actually the most irritating and it is the decision of the Croatian Parliament where the Mass was transferred from Zagreb to Sarajevo and it is a matter of our political institutions and authorities But that in Sarajevo the parliament of another country organizes and imposes its values by turning a religious event into a political event, I think it is not a European policy given that Croatia holds the EU presidency.I also talked to Cardinal Vinko Puljic and suggested I want to do something together to reduce tensions, but unfortunately nothing has been resolved on that issue, "Trivic said.
