Today, the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović , visited Donji Miholjac, where he gave a speech at the celebration of the City Day. In one part of his speech, the President announced that a step backwards in economic terms awaits us, adding that fortunately the country is not starving. "Moreover, there is too much to eat," Milanovic stated, adding with a barely perceptible smile on his face: "Including leftovers."
For the uninitiated, the president joked at his own expense, commenting on the unprecedented amount of antics at his own expense that entertained Croatia last weekend . Social networks were then flooded with jokes at the expense of his appetite, caused by Milanović's statement about the occasion when he visited the infamous club of Dragan Kovačević in Slovenska 9.
HOW HE BECAME A TARGET ON SOCIAL NETWORKS
“Should I have been home for a month? Who am I allowed to be with for a month? It was during the lockdown and a friend from Dalmatia called me, there was a lot of food to throw away because he had no one to give it to. We met because it was more practical there. But it's a pointless topic, "the president said a few days ago, probably not expecting what followed.
In addition to getting involved in the general joke at his own expense, Milanović sent an encouraging message to the inhabitants of that part of Slavonia in Donji Miholjac. The President acknowledged that a large number of people had left the area, but also stated that he was convinced that a good part of them would return since the same phenomenon had been observed in other transition countries. At the end of a short speech, Milanovic told the hosts that he saw that they were working, and encouraged them to "ruthlessly use European money" to improve the economic situation in their city.
