HSLS: Thousands of vocational students will be left without legal qualifications

The club of HSLS and Reformists warned on Wednesday that 55,000 vocational students and another 50,000 who had completed those studies would be left without legal qualifications due to the Constitutional Court's decision to repeal certain provisions of the Croatian Qualifications Framework Act.

On March 10 this year, the Constitutional Court ruled for the second time on the lawsuit of the Rector of the University of Zagreb Damir Boras and four law faculties to repeal the provisions of the Croatian Qualifications Framework Act and based on that decision, part of the law was repealed, HSLS) outlining the views of the HSLS Group of Representatives and the Reformists.
He claims that in this way students of professional and specialist studies are discriminated against and discredited in relation to those of university studies.
"The argument from the reasoning of this court decision is completely detached from the reality of life and threatens to lead to serious problems for students of higher education institutions, but also legislators, which we consider unacceptable and contrary to EU policies and practices and the European Qualifications Framework," he said. .
"If the constitutional decision is implemented and amendments to the law are adopted by December 31 this year, in addition to the current 55 thousand students of vocational studies, there are about 50 thousand who have completed those studies and will remain without legal qualifications, ie they will have the last qualification prescribed by law, and that is high school education ", warned Klasić.
Citing the example of nurses or police officers who could be left without qualifications, ie that their qualifications be reduced, Klasić therefore called for the removal of the existing legal vacuum and called for the adoption of European standards as soon as possible.
