Penava's friend's company won a job worth HRK 250,000 in a tender announced on May 27. It was founded on June 25.

LAST CHANGE: JUL 31, 2020
The mayor of Vukovar and member of parliament of the Homeland Movement Ivan Penava visited Vukovar Ada on Wednesday "on the occasion of the beginning of the bathing season", it was announced from his office. The bathing season, admittedly, officially started ten days earlier, on July 17, but Penava, who convenes journalists for the most banal reasons (remember his invitation to journalists in late April when he marked the beginning of Japanese cherry blossoms on the tree-lined promenade along the Danube promenade), used this week as well for self-promotion.
He boasted that the City of Vukovar had invested 250,000 kuna for the 'Summer on Vukovar Ada' event, and another 60,000 for cleaning the river island on the Danube, Vukovarska ada, the favorite beach of the people of Vukovar. The story of this year's "contractors", the company Opcija B, which got the job of transporting the citizens of Vukovar, but also "citizens from the surrounding villages and towns" (as they say from the Vukovar city administration) from the right bank of the Danube to Vukovarska ada, worth 250,000 kuna, it is more than interesting.
Namely, that company was entered in the Court Register a month ago, on June 25, or only four days before the end of the public tender by which the City of Vukovar asked for a company willing to organize river transport to Vukovarska ada.
Penava officially opened the bathing season on Ada, which, however, started 10 days earlierTELEGRAM
THE COMPETITION WAS ANNOUNCED ON MAY 27
The mentioned tender was announced on May 27 this year and the City of Vukovar has allocated 150,000 kuna for this job. However, around the middle of the deadline until the end of the tender, on June 10, the mayor of Penava personally makes a change to the public tender in which only point II is changed, so now the previous value of 150,000 kuna is increased to 250,000 kuna.
In previous years, the transport of Vukovar residents to their favorite beach was organized by the Danube Sport Fishing Association, but due to the epidemiological situation related to the Covid 19 pandemic, they gave up the job. As early as June 17, while the tender was underway, SRU Vukovar addressed the Institute of Public Health with a question about the recommendations, given that they had transported 10 excursionists in their vessels in previous years and that they all had to have life jackets.
They asked the Institute of Public Health whether, given the epidemiological measures, it would be necessary to reduce the number of passengers in the boat, and whether life jackets would have to be disinfected after each ride, given the summer heat and sweating of passengers.
CLEAR EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Two days later, on June 19, epidemiologist Jasna Toplovec responded , explaining the measures: passengers in the vessel must be at least 1.5 meters apart, and life jackets and all other objects that passengers can touch while driving must be disinfected after each application. Also, it is necessary to take the personal data of all passengers, so that they can be contacted later if it turns out that they were in contact with an infected person during the trip.
SRU Dunav then concluded that given the current situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, they would not be able to meet the recommendations of the Croatian Institute of Public Health, so to protect the health of Vukovar citizens and tourists who would visit Vukovar Ada, they decided not to apply.
On June 23, the president of the association, Alen Bainrauch , and his associates are arranging a meeting in the City Administration with the head of the Administrative Department for Social Activities, Dražen Kobašević , to inform him that they will not apply because they cannot meet epidemiological measures. However, the meeting did not take place because the head canceled it and moved it at a time when the leadership of SRU Dunav could not come. The next day, June 24, SRU Dunav announces its decision not to apply for the tender.
THE LEADERS OF THE CITY WERE VERY NERVOUS
A day later, as we have seen, a company with an interesting name, Option B, whose founder and owner is Ninoslav Potlimbrzović , is entered in the Court Register . They apply for a competition that ends in four days and get the job. From sources close to the Vukovar city administration, we learn that the city's leaders were very nervous and that they wanted to enable the transportation of Vukovar residents to a nearby beach at all costs, believing that this would gain the citizens' favor for the next local elections.
On the sidelines of the city administration, it was rumored that the HDZ was behind it all, planting Penava clips because he left the party and joined, as did Deputy Mayor Marijan Pavliček , the Miroslav Škora Homeland Movement. Our interlocutors from SRU Dunav strongly reject any political reasons for their decision: they gave up their job, they say, because they assessed that they could not fulfill the epidemiological recommendations and did not want to expose the citizens of Vukovar to the risk of infection with Covid 19.
THE OWNER SAYS THEY RESPECT ALL EPIDEMIOLOGICAL MEASURES
But Option B does not seem to have that problem. The owner, Ninoslav Potlimbrzović, says that they respect all epidemiological measures, and when asked by Telegram if he could describe exactly which measures they are implementing, he answers that we as journalists should know that. When asked if they respect the measures of social distance of 1.5 meters, and if they disinfect the vests after each use, he answered: "We respect all the measures prescribed by the Vukovar and national headquarters." However, the photographs in the Telegram show that the distance between the excursionists is not a meter and a half, and that the passengers in the boat do not wear life jackets.
Transport of Vukovar to the beachTELEGRAM
Potlimbrzović did not want to answer the routes of how many boats they use to transport, but like his associate Tihomir Kostić answered vaguely that "there are enough boats", not wanting to say whether they are three, four, five or more vessels. However, Kostić said that life jackets must be worn only by children, and adults decide for themselves, at their own risk.

The owner of the company Opcija B, which won the tender worth HRK 250,000, Ninoslav Potlimbrzović admits that he has friendly relations with the mayor of Vukovar, and when asked by Telegram whether Penava invited him to apply for the tender, he replied that it was an indirect invitation. was transmitted by an employee of the city administration, whose name he could not remember.

WANTS POSTPONING THE ELECTION?
What is behind Trump's shocking proposal: It is no coincidence that he published a controversial idea today

NEW SHOCK FOR NOW
Trump proposes postponing November elections: 'Election fraud threatens'
STUNNING FIGURES
The US economy has sunk totally: 'This is by far the biggest drop in the country's history'
"By universal mail voting (not by voting for those who are absent, which is good) the 2020 election will be the MOST REGULAR & FAIREST in history. It will be a great shame for the US. Let's postpone the election until people can vote properly and safely ???" With this tweet, US President Donald Trump only confirmed the fears of all observers that he would try in any way to prevent the holding of elections in November this year.
According to The New York Times, this is the first time Trump has openly said the election should be postponed. He now cites the epidemic as the reason, but, on the other hand, he demands that schools be opened.
The Washington Post states that the U.S. Constitution gives it the power to regulate the “time, place, and manner” of elections for the House of Representatives and the Senate, both houses of Congress. And only Congress is authorized to change the rules. Nowhere is this right even mentioned as a possible part of the president's powers. But that is why the constitution firmly defines that the president’s term ends on January 20 in the year following the presidential election.
Even for Mr. Trump, suggesting a postponement of the election would be a remarkable violation of the president’s reputation, and this announcement will only further increase the chances of Mr. Trump and his staunch supporters not accepting the legitimacy of the election if he loses to former Vice President Joseph R. Biden . So the president’s tweet explained to The New York Times.
In the U.S., the possibility of Trump and his closest associates deciding to leave the White House is being debated in all political circles. That narrative suddenly began to gain momentum after public support for Trump began to plummet due to a catastrophically poor response to the outbreak of the Covida-19 epidemic.
Recent polls show that Biden has an advantage of as much as 10 percent - but, as Tea Trubić Macan from Euractiv.hr wrote , four years ago at this time Hillary Clinton had such an advantage over Trump. Optimists would say that the circumstances are different now, pessimists that four years will surely follow, and realists that a lot depends on the pre-election confrontations.
Trump has attacked the possibility as many as 70 times since the end of March, when the idea of voting by mail for all first emerged. His team is very worried because they are afraid that this would lead to a higher turnout, which is one of the preconditions for Biden's victory.
Democrats have shown that they can and do react quickly.
"Donald Trump is terrified. He knows he's going to lose to Joe Biden. It's going to take each of us to make it happen. See you at the polls on Nov. 3, Donald Trump." So replied Kamala Harris , one of the key candidates for the position of vice president on Joe Biden’s team.
Economy decline by 30.6%
The tweet in which Donald Trump calls for a postponement of the election was not accidentally published today. Because it was just today that it was announced that the U.S. economy suffered the heaviest decline since the 1940s (hence, the era of World War II) in the second quarter.
Gross domestic product decreased by 9.5% in the second quarter compared to the first, a decline equal to an annual rate of 32.9%, according to an estimate by the Ministry of Trade. This is the fastest annual decline on a quarterly basis since 1947, but there is also good news: analysts had predicted a decline of 34.5%.
That is why it is not surprising that Wednesday's announcement: The US Federal Reserve reiterated its promise to use all available tools to support the US economy and to keep interest rates close to zero for as long as it takes for the economy to recover from the coronary crisis. the trajectory of the economy will depend significantly on the action of the virus.

STUNNING FIGURES
The US economy has sunk totally: 'This is by far the biggest drop in the country's history'
In parallel with the announcement of the record decline of the American economy, which decreased by 33 percent in the second quarter, Donald Trump shocked the nation with the proposal to postpone the elections scheduled for November 3 this year.
In that election, Americans were to elect a president, 35 senators (100 of them), and all 435 members of Congress.
But with the escalation of the coronavirus epidemic in the U.S., which records more than 4 million infected and more than 150,000 deaths from Covid-19, it is increasingly being demanded that much of the voting be done by mail, rather than physically going to the polls.
While this is a fairly common way of voting in the U.S., Trump claims it could lead to “election fraud and inaccurate results”. He suggested that the elections be postponed until people will be able to vote "correctly and safely".
With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote ???
- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 30, 2020
It should be noted that the evidence for Trump's claims is almost non-existent, as no significant cases of fraud in the case of postal voting have been recorded so far.
By the way, according to the latest polls, Trump lags behind the Democratic candidate Joe Biden by a big nine percent.

The German economy fell by a record 10.1 percent in the second quarter from the previous quarter, amid a pandemic that hit household consumption, corporate investment and exports hard, preliminary data from Germany's statistical office Destatis showed on Thursday.

Compared to the second quarter of 2019, Europe’s largest economy fell 11.7 percent, according to seasonally adjusted data from the German statistical office.
Analysts in the Reuters poll expected a drop of nine percent quarterly and 11.3 percent year-on-year, according to seasonally adjusted data.
The German economy already fell 2.2 percent in the first quarter from the previous quarter.
In mid-March, the government introduced a series of restrictive measures to curb the spread of the new coronavirus infection. These measures included restrictions on public life, border closures and forced production outages, resulting in almost catastrophic consequences for many key industries in Germany in the months that followed, recalls the German news agency Dpa.
Exports and imports of goods and services, as well as household consumption and investment in equipment, fell sharply in the second quarter due to the pandemic, but government spending rose, according to Reuters

WHAT WAS IT?
Milanovic: Well, I don't know if Twitter is on a Russian or Chinese network, but he tweeted something, right?
MYSTERIOUS TWEET
The Government announced because of Milanović: 'We have reviewed and concluded everything - either he is lying or hallucinating'
The messages that President Zoran Milanović and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković have been exchanging for the last 24 hours clearly show us what hard cohabitation should look like. Throughout the day, Milanovic and Plenković criticize each other through the media and the question is how and when this public outwitting will end.
It all started last night when Milanović referred to Plenković's statement that the president was recycling the topic of the unconstitutionality of the National Staff.
Recycling as a compliment
- I see Plenković's statement that it is recycling as a compliment. Tomorrow we will carry recycled goods, so that is a kind of awareness. Yes, we live in a time of recycling, especially if someone needs to repeat the most obvious things ten times, Milanović said last night.
- Recycling is when you make something new out of something that is spent and rotten. That's what I do, he added.
However, he rejected the possibility of meeting with the prime minister and talking to him about it.

Boredom on Pantovčak
Plenković's answer did not have to wait long. He commented on Milanovic's statements before the parliamentary session, but also during conversations with journalists in the Parliament.
- It seems to me that the president is bored in the political sense, then in the absence of some serious activism, work and responsibility, he creates some topics that we have completed in Parliament. The Parliament knows on the basis of which law the Civil Protection Headquarters exists, the Government formed it, Plenković said in the Parliament.
He believes that if someone thinks that what the headquarters is doing should be done by the Parliament, then he does not know anything about what is operational and what is legislative work.
- It is such a type of micro-management that even the Government cannot do it. I am happy that I do not have to deal with the smallest details that the staff does every day as Prime Minister, but that does not mean that we do not control everything they do, said Plenković.
Asked if he had talked about the topic with the president, the prime minister replied that he had, but that he "disagreed with what he was saying" and how they had shown it to the entire opposition.

- We are not looking for rest, and that is the key difference. Those who deal with problems in order to solve them for the benefit of Croatian citizens, and those who have the time and ask for some small details, such as the intervention of MP Bauk. You have trivialization, trivialization, searching for details, and solving big problems. Croatian citizens 'understand' it, people see it, they went to the polls and elected us, Plenković said.
When asked when he last spoke with President Milanovic, he did not specify but said that Milanovic first had an atypical inauguration, different moves, minimizing activities for Statehood Day, did not come to the solemn session of the Croatian Parliament, and it was not known whether he voted in the parliamentary elections. or not.
- We've talked several times, and we don't agree. We agreed to disagree. We are politically different. What I am saying I am saying very deliberately and consciously, because I am listening now to what has accumulated for five months. I listen and follow those moves. It is important that the public sees this. You have a government that works, that works hard and struggles to solve problems. And you have someone who objectively has more time and less authority and who has results like this in five months. Let someone question it a little, Plenković stated.
Badgers, non-existent tweets ...
Later in the afternoon, Milanovic again had the need to respond to the prime minister, thinking that Plenković's statement about boredom in Pantovčak was launched via Twitter.
- He did not criticize me, but the function. As far as I understand Croatian, he said that this is the fate of the job, that I have only now realized what kind of job I am doing. So, it is not my fault, but the fact is, whether I am bored or not, that the one who writes such messages on Twitter, and the Prime Minister, is very bored, said Milanovic.
Still, he said he did not believe the criticism was personally written by the prime minister on Twitter, but by some “badger” from his office at night.

- I can't understand that Plenković would write such nonsense, Milanović said, without specifying which Plenković's tweet was about.
When even reporters could not find the controversial tweet, the president was a little confused.
- Well, I don't know if Twitter is on a Russian or Chinese network, but he tweeted something, right? Nikola? ', Said Milanović, addressing his spokesman Nikola Jelić for clarification .
- No. He stated that, Jelic said.
- That was on his Twitter ?, Milanović asked again.
- Yes, but live, Jelic answered.
- So he follows himself on Twitter? Cool. Modern, said Milanović and said goodbye to the journalists with a laugh.
Little "twitter gaf" @Ured_PRH
So Milanović referred for 30 minutes to a tweet that doesn't exist because he thought that Plenković tweeted about him, and then in the end when it was explained to him that @AndrejPlenkovic didn't tweet it, but stated, that's how it is finished .. @vijestihr pic.twitter.com/Yed2xVnA2j

A lie or hallucination
It was still not clear to the media representatives what kind of tweets the president was talking about, so they asked the Government for clarification. After their announcement, it became clear that no one was wasting time late at night writing on Twitter.
- Considering the numerous media inquiries "What late-night tweet does the President of the Republic mean", we reviewed the Prime Minister's tweets in the past period to check whether anything was tweeted in the late hours against the President of the Republic. The only thing we can conclude after that review is that the President of the Republic is either lying or hallucinating. It is quite certain that he is very bored in office and invents, the Government said

The Prime Minister and the President of the state continue to play public insults and insults with each other. Thus, journalists asked Milanović a moment ago how he commented on Plenković's statement in which he stated that the president, who had been calling him names for days because of the National Staff, was obviously bored in office.
However, Zoran Milanović seems to have lost his temper a bit, so he started talking about some tweets. Unless he knows something that the rest of the public doesn't know, we assume he thought Plenković, or someone on his behalf, posted a tweet in which he gossiped a bit.
'IT WAS WRITTEN BY A BADGER'
So he said half-offended: "He did not criticize me, but the function, as far as I understand Croatian, he said that it was the fate of the job, it is not my fault but the fact is, whether I am bored or not, who writes such messages on Twitter, is very bored ", Said the president, and soon added:" I can't say that he is bored, but the people who send tweets are weird. We talked about it five times, the last time he was with me for a term, ”and then again:
“I still can’t believe he wrote it on Twitter, but probably some badger from his office. I can't believe Plenković would have written such nonsense. And it annoys me that I have to stand at plus 30 and wear a suit, that comes with work. You have no right to annoy you, "Milanovic said.
The president assures that he is not bored. As he says, quite seriously, as a child he liked to play with other children and alone, and "today when he is alone, a scribe, he studies, and when he is bored he takes bicycles and goes to Sljeme", reports N1 .
WHAT PLENKOVIĆ TOLD HIM AT ALL
Milanovic once again explained his views on the Headquarters, whose role, he says, is becoming a farce "where, under the guise of the profession, small daily interests of this or that buddy are favored, that can be changed in Parliament." "I repeat, I will be a grunt, I went through the things he goes through a long time ago, maybe it frustrates him. We must take care that the Parliament covers all things that affect human rights, this is not a declaration of a state of war, we live in a state of emergency that has not been sanctioned in an appropriate legal and political way, "Milanovic said.
A small reminder of today's speech by Plenković, who previously commented that Milanović's speeches were a consequence of being bored, and later repeated that. "He is obviously bored in the political sense and then in the absence of any serious activism, work, responsibility and creates some topics that we have absolved here in Parliament. The Parliament knows on the basis of which Law the Civil Protection Headquarters exists, the Government formed it. The headquarters is working, "Plenković said.

Fearing the spread of the infection, Sydney police dispersed the Black Lives Matter protest
Nearly three billion animals died or lost their habitats in catastrophic fires last year in Australia, scientists reported, the BBC reported on Tuesday.
Research has shown that this is one of the “worst wildlife disasters in modern history,” the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWG) has warned.
A wildfire ravaged all Australian states last summer, killing at least 33 people.
Mammals, reptiles, birds and frogs have died in flames or from habitat loss.
During the peak of the crisis in January, scientists estimated that 1.25 billion animals died in New South Wales and Victoria alone.
But the new estimates cover a larger area. About 11.46 million acres, an area the size of England, were burned from September to February.
“When you think about three billion local animals got in the way of the fire, that’s absolutely a lot, that number is hard to understand,” said Professor Chris Dickman , who oversaw the project by ten scientists from Australian universities.
In February, the government identified 113 animal species in need of an "emergency" after a fire.
Almost all of the animals on the list have lost at least 30 percent of their habitat in forests and grasslands in southern and eastern Australia.
Koalas and kangaroos, as well as birds, fish and some species of frogs, are among the animals that need the most help, experts said.
The government has promised to give A $ 50 million to protect wildlife and restore their habitats, but environmentalists have called on Australia to strengthen its nature conservation laws.
Scientists have provided considerable evidence that the frequency and severity of fires have never been seen as a result of climate change.
Experts also say the smoke from the fire has been linked to more than 445 deaths, according to the BBC.

Ablack beret on his head, a sly smile and verbal readiness for any kind of catastrophe, from an alien invasion to a nuclear-biological terrorist attack. No, this is not a template character from American action films produced by B, but the head of the Zagreb Office for Emergency Management, Pavle Kalinic . A line from the time of the Office's launch was recorded in the media: journalists asked Kalinic what he would actually do. The answer was, “Have you watched American disaster movies? There you go. ”
A full 12 years later, Kalinic continues to parade through the metropolis, immersed in the role of local defense minister against imaginable and unimaginable cataclysms, waiting for his five minutes. The real Robin of Zagreb's Batman for the Poor, Milan Bandić . Until March this year, there were no major catastrophes in Zagreb that would fall under Kalinic's jurisdiction. And then the hero of our crisis in the past few months has seen as many as three of the five listed in last year's disaster risk assessment document for Zagreb: pandemic, earthquake and flood.
THE CALAMITIES STRIPPED HIM TO THE END
After the drama with the recent flood passed, Kalinic immediately appeared on television to explain that the pipes may have been damaged in the earthquake, but that has yet to be determined; that he has only now asked Hrvatske vode to form emergency teams for such situations; that the situation with pipes has been deteriorating over the last 30 years due to "interest and profit"; that such a flood occurs once in a hundred years.
In short, he sounded like he was running the Office of Management afterlife. His boss Bandic put an end to the "i", shifting some of the responsibility for the floods to citizens who "expanded basements and turned them into housing units". However, it is not clear how the hospital in Klaićeva, which also swam in the water due to the lack of drainage, would fit into this claim.
The modus operandi of thorough scrubbing of responsibility from oneself and in this case proved to be the main characteristic of the person in charge of keeping cataclysmic situations under some kind of control. The disasters that hit the metropolis exposed him to the end.
FAMOUS RADIO SHOW
That the city and its services are ready for the worst, even the earthquake, Kalinic convincingly claimed at the end of February as a guest on RTL Direkt on the eve of the upcoming corona crisis. Three weeks later, Zagreb's hills shook, chunks of chimneys and parts of ruined, unmaintained facades began to fall, people ran into the streets in panic, houses were broken in half. And then, in an extraordinary radio program, an hour after the second strong earthquake, the chief emergency manager responded.
"So far, it's better than I expected," Kalinic reassured himself in the introduction, and panicked and continued to shout at the citizens to stay outside, saying that he would save them. At one point, he stated that "after the first fire, the second will come soon." Very comforting for the shocked and frozen citizens of Zagreb, who had already been overwhelmed by this second earthquake. So briefly sounded the readiness of a man who for more than a decade had supposedly prepared the system and himself for exactly that moment.
TERRORISM OR EARTHQUAKE AS THE BIGGEST THREAT?
Back in 2008, Bandić invented the Office of Emergency Management for the then head of the Education Office, Kalinić, after returning from a business trip from the USA. Namely, the duo was inspired by the megalomaniac crisis management centers they saw in American multimillion-dollar cities. And he concluded that Zagreb should have something like that.
However, plans to create a Zagreb version of the concrete Pentagon located somewhere in Sesvete have been swept away by a severe financial crisis. So Kalinic was given premises in Ilica for consolation and the business could start. For the man who received his doctorate on the subject of George Bush's politics and Islamic terrorism, the greatest threat to Zagreb was, of course, terrorism. Demonstration exercises on the subject, fantasies about an armored vehicle, a crisis bunker quickly followed. And then it was realized that Zagreb might still be in danger of earthquakes, so a thematic international conference was held.
“You need to start consolidating all your older buildings. You need to make a detailed intervention plan, as well as a mass evacuation plan in case of an earthquake. You need to secure and protect your hospitals, schools, public buildings particularly well. I am aware that there are huge financial sacrifices and costs, but that is the only possible way to effectively fight the earthquake ", said the first man of the devastated Italian city of L'Aquila, Massimo Cialente , to the participants of the conference in Zagreb and appealed to all relevant to take the above steps until it is too late.
ONE OF KALINIC'S HOBBIES
Ten years after these warnings, in front of a large blue background with the inscription "my Zagreb", we watched Bandić in the role of the Chief of the Crisis Staff of the Civil Protection of the City of Zagreb quarrel with everyone, while the city floats in post-earthquake chaos. He nervously repeated that no one could have predicted the earthquake. And that is not entirely true. Of course, no one can know the day when it will happen, but everything that will happen during and after the earthquake has been predicted for years.
The earthquakes were one of Kalinic's hobbies anyway: he frantically printed leaflets on how to act in the event of an earthquake, thought aloud about the locations of potential mass graves, and pasted maps of evacuation zones around the city. Interestingly, one of the planned evacuation zones with a tent settlement is located right on the Hippodrome, the planned location of the famous Manhattan on the Sava.
CRACKS IN THE TOP
How much attention was paid to the map with instructions for earthquakes pasted on tram and bus stations, can be seen by the bizarre omission: the blind and visually impaired were recommended to write an SMS to 112 in case of an earthquake, instead of calling. The slip was probably made by copying the line above, which contains the same instructions for people with hearing and speech impairments.

If we look at the planned evacuation routes on Kalinic's map, the red lines lead across the Sava, but bypass the three central bridges over the river. The reasons have long been known: estimates point out that a devastating earthquake simply would not last. There was investment in bridges, though. But mostly in lighting, for which the people of Zagreb have set aside around 40 million kuna in the last few years.
Although Kalinic organized several civil protection exercises, especially after the moderately strong earthquake of 2015, the system, which works on paper and in simulation conditions, showed cracks at the very top. For example, during the presentation of the Analysis and the Plan for the Development of the Civil Protection System, City Representative Renato Petek caught Kalinic unprepared for a trivial matter. He asked him if he had a satellite cell phone with him, which was assigned to him as part of the improvement of the crisis communication system.
PERSONAL TANK IN THE GAME
But the lead crisis manager admitted to leaving him in the car. It was a banal but clear signal in which direction the situation could develop in the event of a 5.5 magnitude earthquake, as eerily accurately predicted in the scenario of exercise "Sava 2019." held late last year.
In the absence of major crises, Kalinic until this year, at the expense of the city budget, mainly dealt with bizarre public outbursts, searching for the head of Ivo Lola Ribar's bust , occasional military service, insulting ministers and other state officials, commenting on world accidents on television, monitoring anti-terrorist and rescue exercises. And let's not forget, by trying to procure a personal tank in case of an attack on Zagreb with unknown biological weapons.
THE SCRIPT DIDN'T SIT WELL WITH HIM
Emergency services, which knew how to do their job even before the establishment of Kalinic's office, reacted promptly and professionally during the flood and earthquake. Despite the detailed and warning earthquake scenarios in official documents, after this flood it is even clearer that a serious plan for dealing with the consequences of the earthquake in the City in the long run clearly did not exist.
As his boss called the citizens for the flooded basements, so did others blame Kalinic after the earthquake: citizens who do not want to put themselves under his cap in the Civil Protection; citizens who allegedly put new rubble on the street as soon as the city allegedly removes the existing one; citizens who have not studied leaflets and slip cards; citizens who are always looking for someone to blame for the current situation. As, for example, the culprit is sought by the citizen Kalinic. The script of this American disaster film we live in didn't sit well with him.

Tihomir Blagus from Zagreb , a man who was declared a hero by the Croatian public after he broke into the constitution of Hrvatske vode on Friday due to floods and opened a drainage canal towards the Sava, was detained the next day.
As the police announced today, the 54-year-old was not arrested because he broke into the constitution to save the neighborhood from further floods, but because he disturbed police officers and insulted them by shouting "under the influence of alcohol" and at one point started swinging hands ... ".
'TIHOMIR DID NOT RESIST ARREST'
Now on the profile of the Facebook group Trnje - on the last line of defense, a photo was published showing a rather brutal arrest, allegedly of Mr. Blagus.

"This is what the arrest of our Tihomir looks like. Foot on the neck ??? Haven’t we recently seen what happened in America because of a similar police procedure. It is important to note that Tihomir did not resist the arrest. And then why such a procedure? Why handcuffs? ”, It is next to the photo.
HE WAS TRYING TO FILM THE POLICE?
In addition to the picture, a video allegedly released by Blagus just before the arrest was released. "The police gave a report that our hero Tihomir Blagus was insulting the police officers drunk and that he was arrested. But we’re posting footage of how it all happened and how it started. Tihomir filmed (in a public area) the police making a record because of the burglary, it was not even a criminal investigation. At one point, the policeman did not allow the filming and broke out and took Tihomir's cell phone from his hand. "

A British-Australian academic professor who is serving a 10-year prison sentence in Iran for espionage has been transferred to a remote infamous desert prison, reports the Guardian.
Kylie Moore-Gilbert , a Middle East expert with a degree from Cambridge University, was housed for nearly two years in Tehran’s Evin prison and then transferred to Qarchak Women’s Prison, southeast of the capital.
Moore-Gilbert said she felt isolated and had lost all hope, according to Reza Khandana , the wife of imprisoned human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh .
- I can't eat anything. I feel very hopeless. I don't have a phone card to call. I asked prison officials to give it to me, but they didn’t. The last time I was able to call my parents was about a month ago, ”Moore Glibert said in a phone call with Khandan.
The isolated and overcrowded Qarchak prison, to which she will be transferred, has one of the worst reputations in the country. Last month, the U.S. State Department said Qarchaku violence, torture and rape, and a lack of medical services were a regular occurrence.
It is believed that the coronavirus also broke into a prison where social distancing is impossible, and according to the same allegations, there is a lack of basic hygiene products such as soap.
The prison, like its former Evin, is controlled by an elite military organization, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It houses prisoners who have committed the most serious crimes, as well as political prisoners.

Moore-Gilbert, a professor of Islamic studies at the University of Melbourne, was arrested in September 2018 after being invited to give a speech at an academic conference in the city of Qom. Conference associates and the topic of interviews for her academic work marked her as "suspicious" of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and she was arrested at Tehran airport while preparing to fly out of the country.
She was sentenced in a secret trial to 10 years in prison on charges of espionage. Evidence of the alleged crimes she committed was never made public. Moore-Gilbert denies all the allegations, and the Australian government rejects them as unfounded and politically motivated.
Earlier this year, a series of her smuggled letters were published detailing life in prison involving months of solitary confinement and a lack of food, medicine and money to buy personal belongings.
"I feel abandoned and forgotten ... I am an innocent victim," she wrote.
She said she rejected the offer to spy on the Iranian government, even though she would be released from prison at the time.
- I'm not a spy. I have never been a spy and have no interest in working for a spy organization in any country. When I leave Iran, I want to be a free woman and live a free life, not under the shadow of extortion and threats - she said.
Iran has temporarily released more than 100,000 prisoners due to the danger of the spread of coronavirus in overcrowded prisons, but Moore-Gilbert is not among those released.

DISMISSES THE CHARGES
The former Malaysian prime minister has to settle nearly $ 400 million in tax debt
Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak was found guilty of corruption on all counts in the indictment on Tuesday, in the first trial for embezzling billions of dollars from the state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
His case is a test of the country’s ability to deal with corruption and could greatly influence the political scene in that South Asian country.
Najib is accused of breaching trust, money laundering and abuse of power by allegedly receiving $ 10 million from a former subsidiary of SRC International. He pleaded not guilty.
Each of the charges carries with it large fines and imprisonment for up to 15 or 20 years. Najib's lawyers are seeking a postponement of the sentencing, and he announced before the verdict that he would appeal the court's decision.
The former prime minister, who lost the 2018 elections, is still awaiting several trials over allegations that a total of $ 4.5 billion was stolen from 1MDB.

Prosecutors claim that more than a billion dollars from the fund went to private accounts.
Naib’s lawyers say Malaysian financier Jho Low and other 1MDB officials convinced him that the money flowing into his private account was donated by the Saudi royal family and was not stolen from the SRC as prosecutors allege. Low denies that version of the story.
Accusations of corruption in 1MDB have been following Najib for more than five years. But criminal charges came only after his election defeat when his successor, Mahathir Mohamad , reopened the investigation.
The court ruling comes just days after Malaysia reached a $ 3.9 billion settlement with Goldman Sachs over the U.S. bank’s role in extracting money from 1MDB

“ Gerhard Schröder also got involved, ” said the project manager. And the former German Social Democratic Chancellor (1998-2005) does not get involved in business if it is not extremely important. Because, this is a man sitting at the top of Russian energy companies. A close friend of Vladimir Putin .
This is a new scandal of the world's largest car manufacturer, Volkswagen (VW), a company to which the former slogan could be applied: what is good for VW, is good for Germany as well. BusinessInsider.de has announced that it is in possession of a recording of 50 hours of top company conversation on a sensitive topic: how to prevent Prevent from taking over Grammer.
Threat
The size and importance of Prevent is shown by the following fact: every fourth car in Europe has a part produced in Prevent's factories. In addition to the upholstery, it can also be a gearbox. Grammer, on the other hand, produces headrests and center consoles. VW, but also Daimler and BMW have concluded that Prevent could condition the rules of the game after Grammer joins them. And that fear is not unfounded. In 2016, Prevent cut off the delivery of upholstery and gearbox parts, so VW had to stop production of the Golf and Passat. All this was a consequence of the decision of the VW management to transfer part of the losses to its subcontractors after a scandal broke out with the fraud in the measurement of harmful substances in the exhaust gases. But Prevent did not allow itself to be frightened, but stopped the delivery of parts that VW could not find quickly enough elsewhere on the market.
This is the part that has been known so far. And BusinessInsider.de has now announced that on June 12, 2013, it developed a "Prevent exit strategy" for VW. The auto parts supplier was to be thwarted, and the project was called “Elefant”. According to Volkswagen’s calculations at the time, the shutdown of the Prevent could be completed by 2020 because suppliers cannot be so easily replaced due to long-term planning in car production. But their conversations, conducted in 2017 and 2018, have now come to light. At VW, they are in shock, Deutsche Welle (DW) reports. Which confirms that the search for the whistleblower has started in VW. Prevent told DW that they did not have any information about the recordings.
Stock
At VW, the alarm went off when Prevent bought a 20 percent stake in Grammer. An internal VW document, published by Facsimile of BusinessInsider.de, states that a "VW-friendly Grammer shareholder" should be included in the story and that Prevent's influence should be limited by increasing capital. “It is currently in a debate between us, Daimler and BMW. And one financial investor who would do it for us. I already had the first draft of what it would look like yesterday, ”claims one manager in the audio recordings. VW now claims that there was no coordinated cooperation with other car manufacturers. Who are silent. Shares in Grammer were eventually bought by Chinese company Ningbo Jifeng, and VW was the third-largest buyer. One manager suggests that Gerhard Schröder use his closeness to Putin to stop Prevent from receiving money in Russia. Schröder does not answer.
lawsuits
The special unit then discusses how to prevent Prevent from participating in new projects. A plan has been devised to exclude him from the upholstery competition for the new Golf 8. The manager asks, "How do we modify supplier lists to eliminate Prevent?" And this is where the problem arises: Prevent produces at the lowest prices, it is the most favorable supplier. "It would have to be decided not to go by the 'best-bid' principle," the interviewee said. Because removing Prevent from the list of suppliers would be "very suspicious". But, they found a solution and Prevent did not get a job at the Golf 8. VW confirms on request that there was a discussion about "how to deal with the new Prevent offers". deliveries.
The following part is especially interesting: “We know that Prevent knows everything we do. Even on topics, where only a handful of people were instructed, they still knew everything. Maybe there's something glued under the table. "
The cooperation with Prevent ended after VW terminated all contracts with the group in March 2018. The result was countless mutual accusations.
13 thousand workers worldwide
Prevent is a company from Bosnia and Herzegovina controlled by the Hastor family. On its website, Prevent states that “it all started with protective clothing,” and in 1997, the first upholstery for car seats was produced.
The link between Prevent and VW is Nijaz Hastor who worked as a manager at the Sarajevo Car Factory (TAS) which made the famous Golf. Before the war, Hastor went to Germany and worked at VW's Wolfsburg plant.
He returned to BiH in 1995 and founded the ASA Group, which until 2013 was the importer of VW's concern. He turned to production and today more than 6,000 people work in 15 plants in BiH, and 13,000 globally.

The Telegram editorial office received a screenshot of an e-mail sent to the addresses of all employees and students by the current acting dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Miljenko Šimpraga. The three-sentence letter is full of spelling mistakes and it is seriously unbelievable that it was written by a person who is the Vice-Rector of the University of Zagreb and the Dean.
In the very introduction, Šimprag called the Faculty of Philosophy Philosophical, and this is not his first time. Namely, Šimpraga has twice in his statements for the media called Filozofski Filozovski. In the e-mail also, it says "we will have to", and correctly it is "we will have to", "reported", and it should be "reported" and "given his duty", and it is written correctly "given his duty".

One of the employees of the Faculty of Philosophy, who forwarded the dean's e-mail to us, claims that some colleagues from Šimpraga offered a literacy course in good faith. Šimpraga graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb in 1983.
At the beginning of July, the Senate of the University of Zagreb appointed Miljenko Šimpraga acting dean of the Faculty of Philosophy after Rector Damir Boras suspended former dean Vesna Vlahović Štetić due to the final decision of the Zagreb County Court to mob Boras vice-rector and Faculty of Philosophy employee Ante Čović .
Employees and students of the faculty rebelled against Šimpraga, but that did not stop his coming to the faculty. You can read more about the whole case here .

KORONAVIRUSNajdetaljnija analiza vodećeg hrvatskog znanstvenika: Kako živjeti s Covidom-19?
Piše: Prof.dr.sc. Ivan Đikić
PROF.DR.SC.

Slabi li koronavirus tijekom ljeta?
Novi lijekovi i cjepiva

This is Boras' new dean of the Philosophical; he managed to cram a bunch of spelling mistakes into the mini official mail

THE DEAN WHOM BORAS IMPOSED ON THE PHILOSOPHICAL

We reveal: An Italian gang faked a waste business and smuggled bags full of money from Croatia: 'This is a gold mine'
The suspects from the large anti-mafia operation have registered companies in Croatia

“Shit has become my mine…. it has become gold, ”said Maurizio Assanelli , a private carrier who, according to the suspicions of the anti-mafia prosecutor's office in Milan, organized a million-dollar fraud with the transport of waste, mostly metal. The chain of this fraud, worth 56 million euros, once again connected several companies from Croatia, through which, as Telegram found out, they were issued fake invoices for scrap metal.
A few weeks ago, the Italian authorities exposed this group, which is suspected to have included as many as 39 people. 14 of them were arrested at the very end of the action code-named "Metal Empire".
HOW DID THEY CHEAT THE STATE?
Investigators secretly monitored them for months - recording their conversations, but also the trucks they allegedly used to transport waste. However, as it turned out from the footage, the trucks were very often empty. Only through the documentation was the business justified, and on the basis of it the pre-tax was expressed, the well-known Italian IVA. On it, this criminal group deprived the state of almost 1.2 million euros.
According to the data available so far, the money that was illegally extracted from the Italian budget in this way was laundered through companies established in Croatia and Hungary. The cash withdrawn from the accounts of these companies was simply brought back to Italy. Inspectors reportedly managed to seize even travel bags full of banknotes. Valuable property was also confiscated from Assanelli and his men.
According to the report, about 15.4 million euros of funds were blocked, but also 15 real estates, four business halls, six vehicles, shares in six companies…
SECRETLY RECORDED CONVERSATIONS
Among the evidence confirming that this group cheated on taxes through the waste trade, and laundered illegal earnings through companies abroad, investigators also have recordings of conversations between Assanelli and his people.
"I have to give you at least some form… even for a small amount…", it was recorded. "She washes money there." What is not reported in Italy is washed there ", is a detail from one of the secretly recorded conversations.
Videos from the circles of companies for the purchase of scrap metal clearly show that the trucks that enter often do not have any cargo at all. At the same time, the accompanying documentation shows that they were loaded, which, as the investigators concluded, was pure fraud.
AS MANY AS 42 COMPANIES ARE INVOLVED
The investigation has so far established that at least 42 companies were involved in the chain of illegal waste trade. As we have learned, Assanalli's close associates had several of them registered in Croatia - in Lovran and Matulji.
Ivano Cesco , a 65-year-old man who was arrested along with Assanelli, in collaboration with another suspect, Emilio Gall (65), opened the Ecometal company in Lovran in 2014.
There are several apartments at the address where it is registered. We did not notice any business space. According to the data from the court register, the company last officially reported a profit for 2015 in the amount of about 300 thousand kuna. That year she had 25,203,803 kuna in income. Gallo also has a company registered in BiH, and investigators suspect that the country was also involved in these scams.
MORE SUSPICIOUS COMPANIES
Cesco's company Metali trgovina is also connected to Ecometal, which is stated to be currently in liquidation. It was registered in 2011 with its headquarters in Banjole in Istria, before being transferred to Matulji. In 2014, trade metals officially reported around HRK 15.9 million in revenue and HRK 15.8 million in expenses. They did not submit business reports later.
It is interesting that at the same address in Matulji in 2016, another waste management company owned by Italian citizens was established. One of them, Daniele Lena , is a suspect in this investigation. That company, on the other hand, reported a loss of around three and a half thousand kunas in 2015.

700,000 tourists entered Croatia, Istria at 90 percent of last year's traffic in July: What does what we have called so far look like in an epidemic - a hit tourist weekend?
Written by LD / PB (Dnevnik.hr)

NUMBERS ARE GROWING
There are currently about 700,000 foreigners in Croatia. From Lučki, they say that the numbers are growing, despite the fact that they are still lower than last year.
About 700,000 foreigners are currently vacationing in Croatia. However, according to the scenes at the Bregana border crossing, in the Split ferry port or at the Lučko toll stations, it would be difficult to guess that this is the heart of the season.
The good news is that, although the numbers are lower than last year, they say that they are still growing in Lučko. "From week to week, our turnover and revenues grow by about 5 percent. We are satisfied, considering the situation as it is '', says Krešimir Vuksan , assistant director of toll collection at HAC.
Istria at 90 percent of last year's turnover
He adds that the rest of the season depends on the coronavirus. "About what the environment will be like, and this with the Netherlands, BiH, Serbia. For example, on the Zagreb-Lipovac section, we record much less traffic because the citizens of BiH and Serbia travel much less due to restrictions, they cannot return to their countries, that part worries us a little, '' Vuksan revealed.
And central Istria in July was at almost 90 percent of last year's traffic. Secluded houses with a swimming pool are full, say the landlords, from the moment the borders opened, so some places recorded an increase in the number of arrivals of up to 20 percent. Guests from Germany, Austria and Belgium are currently the most numerous who enjoy everything that a holiday in the center of Istria brings them, and not only the sun and the sea

All the time I ask myself in the name of what ideology or belief a man can commit such atrocities

"I can't forget what I want, I remember what I won't! When I discovered the Jazovka pit 25 years ago, on January 22 and 29, 1989, I couldn't explain two things. The first is that there is such a horrible place in Žumberak, and second, that there is a kind of "people" in the world who is able to do that.Klaugh 475 (then believed to be so many victims) women, children, men without a single court and throw them into that pit ?! Some were dead, some were half-alive, and there were even living ones thrown to the bottom of this 30-foot-deep pit.
All the time I ask myself in the name of what ideology or belief can a man commit such atrocities, and an even bigger question is over my head what kind of unscrupulous beast must he be and live to such an old age with such a crime? Every time I come to Jazovo to pay my respects, I always ask myself the same questions ... ", wrote Mladen Kuka , a speleologist from Karlovac, in a post on social networks , who in the late 1990s first discovered the pit from which the mortal the remains of 814 victims of mass murder during and after the end of World War II.Their identification will not be possible given the condition of the remains, but it will be possible, as Defense Minister Tomo Medved told us , to most likely determine the sex and age of the victims.
As a 13-year-old, he says, Kuka started speleology, and in the mid-1970s he heard for the first time in a local cafe in Karlovac about the story of a horrible pit, located not far from the town of Sošice.
"In 1975, a drunken local told me that rumor. He said, 'The pile was bloody at the time,'" Kuka recalled, adding that people tended to mystify stories related to caves and pits, so it seemed impossible to him because this river is quite far from the place Sošice.
image
But then a worm of doubt awoke in him.
"I started inquiring about that pit, but people weren't very talkative. It was still in the former state, everyone who knew something was repeating, 'don't talk about it,' 'it's not the time,' 'it's out there somewhere, but don't. 'I had no choice but to start systematically researching Žumberak, literally stone by stone. I wasn't bothered by politics or anything else, just pure curiosity, "Kuka recalls.

Mladen Kuka with the Rev. Ivan Vučak
The years passed, and Kuka would go to Žumberak every now and then in search.
"I've already become boring to everyone, but it haunted me, I couldn't give up, it became my obsession. I searched sinkhole by sinkhole, stone by stone, and Žumberak wasn't as clear-cut as it is today," says Kuka.
However, the rumor got stronger and stronger over the years, meanwhile Kuk heard from many sides that such a pit should exist, but no one knew anything concrete.
“And otherwise in life when someone tells me,‘ don’t, you can’t, ’that’s when I pull,” he adds. So it was this time as well.
Hook did not give up until 1989, on January 22, fourteen years after he first heard some information about that horrible pit in the mid-1970s.
It was, he recalls, an extremely beautiful and warm day for the month of January.
"I went with the team to Žumberak, I don't know how many times. I remember it was so nice that we were all in short sleeves. And I don't know how many times we parked at the killing field and went in search. Each to his side, lasted it's been a while, the rest of the team has already given up, they called me for a beer, they stood by the car and talked, they couldn't take it anymore, but it was as if something was pulling me, I didn't want to give up, I sat down at one point to rest , on a rock and I was already thinking of going back when I saw a hole in front of me with another larger stone on it, I held out my hand, carefully, so as not to be bitten by a badger, when I felt the air flow, I threw a pebble .. "It became clear that it was under the caves," says Kuka.
But even that didn't mean anything yet, he continues, because they had found caves before.
"I tried to remove that stone, but it didn't work, so I went to get the rest of the team. We managed to remove the stone that day, but the ladder wasn't long enough, we went down, but it wasn't enough," Kuka describes. A week later, on January 29, Hook returned to the site. The weather was much uglier then, but they brought more equipment.
"That day we went down and saw the horror. You feel strange when you see something like that, when you see a pile of bones. I was overwhelmed by a dull feeling from that endless amount of skulls, arms, femurs, wires, crutches ... We were shocked, not out of fear, but ... No one deserves an end like this, ”says Kuka, who soon found such a discovery in the former state a burden.
"There were rumors, even at that time an unknown man called me to suggest that the two of us go to Velebit alone, because if he knew about another pit ... I don't know how it would end, but certainly not good for me, ”Kuka recalls.
Meanwhile, the war began, the story of the pit fell into the background.
However, in the early 1990s, historian Blanka Matković stated in a scientific article published in 2011 entitled "Taking and liquidating wounded members of the Croatian Armed Forces (HOS) from Zagreb hospitals in May and June 1945 through the archives of the State Archives in Zagreb." The crime at that location was pointed out by Branko Mulić from Zagreb, a former member of the Yugoslav Army who came to Zagreb at the beginning of May 1945 with Headquarters X.
He waited for the end of the war in the KNOJ units, so immediately after the end of the war, he was sent to the then Zagreb OZNA III on 'Trg N' (today's Trg žrtava fašizma). May, he was called by the party secretary and asked in the presence of three other people if he had a driver's license, explaining that he had been chosen for tomorrow's special assignment. He also received an order to prepare a bus with about twenty seats so that there would be no technical problems. for Radio Sljeme in 1990, Mulić stated that Joža Brnčić, Slavko Urek, Drago Rafaj and several KNOJ officers were present at the meeting .
Rafaj ordered him to prepare the bus and signed the minutes. Early in the morning, two trucks and about fifteen KNOJ soldiers came to "Trg N", so the convoy of vehicles, which also included Mulić's bus and a jeep with the leaders of the action, headed to the Sv. A ghost where the wounded are loaded into a bus and trucks. According to Mulic's memory, a total of about fifty wounded members of the Croatian Armed Forces (HOS) were boarded.

While boarding, Mulić heard an explanation from one of the leaders of the action that the wounded were being taken to another hospital. He also saw Marijan Cvetković at the scene . That the action was extremely important for the principals is confirmed by the fact that the boarding was briefly controlled by a superior, but he, obviously satisfied, did not stay long. The column then set off and arrived in the village of Sošice around noon, and immediately headed for the pit.
Vehicles were parked in the meadow and the wounded were unloaded. According to Mulic, the operation began without delay. Two soldiers from the jeep took their places on the left and right sides of the pit, at the opening, then no wider than a meter and a half, and the killing began. The helpless wounded were dragged one by one by the soldiers to the pit opening, where a bullet was waiting in the back of their heads. They were thrown into the abyss individually.
Mulić claims that he saw Drago Rafaj near the pit with a gun in his hand, and Živko Vujčić was next to him . Upon his return to Zagreb, Mulić talked to his superior and asked him to release him from continuing the action tomorrow. The superior replied: "Well, Branko, these are the enemies", to which Mulić replied: "For me, the enemy is the one who has a rifle pointed, and these are helpless people". Mulić threatened to kill himself if he was forced to continue driving to Sošice.
Thanks to his friendship with the boss, Mulić was released from the task. He believed that the action continued for weeks after that, because he saw trucks coming to "Trg N" every day. According to his memory, one of the executioners signed a list of loaded wounded.
Archival documents confirm the important role of the 10th Corps, which upon entering Zagreb "was given the task of making itself available to the Zagreb City Command together with the Zagreb Brigade of the KNOJ, in order to establish and maintain order in the city itself," said historian Matkovic. work.
In the late 90's, the pit was inspected by another group of speleologists, led by pathologist prof. Dr. Zdravko Danilović . Then they tried to count the killed and came to a figure of 477 victims. Historian Matković states in her work that according to the lists preserved in Zagreb hospitals, personal data can be identified for as many as 4791 patients in Zagreb hospitals, and in her scientific work she publishes name, surname, year of birth, place of birth, marital status, religion, military rank and day. hospital admissions for all of them. According to him, Jazovka is just one of the places where killed prisoners of war were thrown - patients of Zagreb hospitals. In order to conceal the evidence, a part of the hospital staff was killed, according to historian Matković.

"From 2008 to 2011, my colleague Stipo Pilić and I collaborated on the project of the Croatian State Archives on Croatian victims liquidated by the communist regime at the end of the war and in the first months of the war.
In that period, we researched in all Croatian and Slovenian archives and prepared a large number of reports and 11 extensive studies which were forwarded to the State Attorney's Office. One of them was Jazovka. One was Kočevski rog and on the basis of that study I testified before the Zagreb County Court in the investigation against Simo Dubajić before he died, but that was the only thing that was initiated then. Other data probably ended up in someone's drawer ", says historian Matković.
She says that last week she sent an e-mail to the Ministry of Veterans' Affairs asking if they had those studies at their disposal.
"... Because it is necessary to use what already exists and continue further investigation instead of possibly repeating the work already done. They haven't answered me yet. It would be normal for that office in the Ministry to have at its disposal the data of the former parliamentary commission and our data and those worked on by the office that was established in 2011 or somewhere, because it is a huge amount of data that together can facilitate further investigations. historian Matković believes.

For years, Kuka tried to persuade the authorities to protect the area and the entrance to the pit in some way, because he noticed that people were throwing garbage inside, he even went down to the pit several times and cleaned it of bottles, flags, garbage. .
"I wrote to President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović , to the Ministry ... The years passed, but what is especially horrifying is that the pit is an hour away from Zagreb, and neither the Prime Minister nor the President came to Jazovka. That is why on August 14 last year I organized a prayer ceremony in the pit with the parish priest of the Holy Trinity Parish in Krašić, the Rev. Ivan Vučak .
I thought it was something I could do on my own, which I could do, ”explains Kuka, who has had an advisory role in the exhumation of the remains these days.
He says that it was done by a team of about 20 experts and that it was done in a professional and systematic way.
"The army filled the bags with the bones they pulled out and carried them to the table and sorted them to be sent to forensic medicine. I have lived with that pit one big piece of my life and for me in a way this solution is a mystery. Even if those victims are buried with dignity ... ", says Kuka.
Minister Tomo Medved adds that the Jazovka pit is the largest site so far.
"The exhumation procedure was extremely difficult because it is a narrow passage pit, but the speleological teams did an excellent job," the minister added.
This investigation was conducted by the Directorate for Detainees and Missing Persons of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, and the exhumation began on Monday, July 13, and lasted for a week.
"Based on the remains, we will try to determine the sex and age of the victims because identification will not be possible," Medved said, adding that a dignified tomb for the victims would be built later.
No one has ever been prosecuted or convicted for the crime discovered in the Jazovka pit
