US President Donald Trump toured part of the wall on the border with Mexico on Tuesday, wanting to boost his re-election campaign in Arizona, in which the number of people infected with the coronavirus has risen sharply.
Trump thereby wants to defend his stronghold in Arizona while polls show that Democratic candidate Joe Biden has an advantage over him and that Republican Senator Martha McSally is behind Democratic opponent Mark Kelly .
Trump toured part of the wall in San Luis and signed a plaque erected to mark the two hundred miles of the newly built wall (321 kilometers) whose construction he encouraged by taking a firmer stance toward immigrants.
It is Trump’s third visit to Arizona this year, with a record nearly 3,600 new cases of coronavirus infection recorded on Tuesday with a record number of hospitalized patients.
