- A new challenging time is ahead of us again. We have experience, but there has also been relaxation. We will definitely work as before. We will have a Croatian model, in accordance with Croatian circumstances. We follow what other countries in Europe are doing, but we also follow what they did in Iceland, Australia, Argentina, Chile and other countries that had good experiences during the autumn and winter, "the director of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases told HTV's Dnevnik. " Dr. Fran Mihaljević "prof. Alemka Markotić .
She added that in the future, local headquarters and the so-called "partial closures". She added that local headquarters are enabled to make and propose a whole range of measures and decisions, because they know the situation best in the field.
Hospital capacities sufficient
She did not want to confirm definitively that, for example, in some restaurants and some counties it will be mandatory to wear masks, and in others not. She stressed that talks with representatives of caterers are underway and everything should be known in ten days.
- Hospital capacities are sufficient so far, they are not even fully filled. He has accumulated knowledge in treatment. The number of deaths is higher, but the percentage is twice as low. We have a new drug remdesivir and some biological drugs, said Alemka Markotić.
She reiterated that a higher number of infected people also brings a higher percentage of people in hospitals, which burdens the health care system and ultimately leads to a higher number of patients with a fatal outcome.

GUESTS OF THE DIARY
Markotić and Božinović on the corona autumn: The situation is under control, it is important to get vaccinated against the flu
Speaking about the clinical picture of hospitalized patients, she said that it has not changed significantly since the beginning of the epidemic. The characteristic in the first part was a more significant percentage of more severe clinical pictures, so there were milder forms during the summer. We are now returning to the situation from the first phase, that we have an increase in patients with moderate and severe images, with an increase in the average age of patients, she said.
Commenting on the fact that 10 percent of hospitalized patients die, Markotić said that this was a range. He does not believe that this information is completely accurate.
- This is the percentage that can be talked about in KBCs that treat the most difficult patients, while in other institutions this percentage is much lower. Mortality at the level of the whole of Croatia is expected and is lower than the world and European average as well as the average of some developed countries, such as Germany, concluded Markotić.
The school year started well
Professor Markotić expressed satisfaction with the epidemiological situation related to the beginning of the school year. She stated that almost a month after the beginning of classes, 104 educators have been infected to date, 19 of whom have developed the disease and 185 children without serious signs of the disease.
The measure of shortening the self-isolation for professors to 10 days has so far proved to be correct, said Alemka Markotić. She announced that the measure could be reduced to 7 days. Epidemiologists are waiting to collect more data to be completely sure, writes HRT .
Australian and Chilean restrictive measures
Australia is one of the countries that had the most severe response to the coronavirus epidemic. Until recently, restrictive measures were in place in the federal state of Victoria, which included closing most of the economy, limiting the movement of people to 5 kilometers around homes for one hour a day, and a night curfew was in force. In doing so, the police extremely aggressively enforced the bans and draconianly punished individuals who dared to protest against them. There were even cases where people were forbidden to go to their own parents ’funeral.
As for Chile, there were quite restrictive measures in place there as well. In the areas where it was introduced, quarantine meant that citizens could only go to the store, post office, bank, pharmacy or to work with a mandatory pass. The military controlled the movement of people in public places, and violations of restrictions were punishable by three years in prison, and five years if a person is aware that he is in an infectious phase. The night curfew is still in force there.
