German media: No one should be surprised if there is a shooting in the Mediterranean soon "Danger of war in the Aegean Sea", "War threats in the Mediterranean", "That would be the reason for war", are some of the headlines in the German media Writes: Jutarnji.hrPosted: August 31, 2020 6:36 pm 8569659 Handout / GREEK DEFENSE MINISTRY / AFP Facebook Twitter Messenger E-mail After Turkey launched a search for gas reserves in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, in areas where Cyprus or Greece feel that they have the right to exploit, and Greece announces an extension of its exclusive economic zone from six to 12 miles in the Ionian Sea, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay is marked this as the reason for the war, and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu drew attention to the relevant decision of the Turkish parliament, writes Deutsche Welle . "As early as 1995, the Turkish parliament marked the expansion of Greek territorial waters in the Aegean Sea as the reason for the war for Turkey. If that happened, the Aegean Sea would, due to the numerous Greek islands, become, so to speak, the Greek Sea. Ankara could then start a war without seeking new approval from parliament, "the Berliner Zeitung notes. "The controversy has intensified since natural gas deposits were located in the eastern Mediterranean and after Turkey signed an agreement with Libya in late 2019 to demarcate areas belonging to them in the Mediterranean, which not only Greece considers null and void," recalls the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. "Turkey demonstratively launched a military exercise in the eastern Mediterranean on Saturday. It is a 'shooting exercise' in the area between the South Turkish city of Anamur and Northern Cyprus, which will last until September 11, according to Ankara," FAZ reported. R Greek patrol boat near the Turkish border NEW ESCALATION Turkey threatens Greece with war: 'Announcement of territorial waters expansion is casus belli for us' TENSIONS New Turkish military maneuvers in eastern Mediterranean: 'We will practice shooting for two weeks' "Turkey understands only one language" The Süddetusche Zeitung interviews Nele Matz-Lück , a professor of international maritime law , recalling that Turkey has never acceded to the 1982 UNCLOS Convention on the Law of the Sea, and concludes: “Turkey's position is not as bad as it is often portrayed. But it is weaker than Greece's position. Perhaps Ankara is now provoking in the hope that Athens will eventually engage in resource sharing. That could be useful for Turkey. And that would also be an opportunity to overcome the current stalemate peacefully, "said Professor Nele Matz-Lück from Kiel. The same newspaper also published a commentary entitled "Blind Solidarity" in which the author Tomas Avenarius criticized the European Union's position: "The conflict over the gas field in the Mediterranean is not only fueled by Turkey. In pursuing its borders at sea, Greece pursues a policy of maximalism, which has no cover in international law. And Athens sends warships there, holds exercises for its fleet. As an EU member, Greece can nevertheless be assured of 'full solidarity between Germany and the EU', as Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said during his unsuccessful mediation mission. And when French President Macron then still plays the role of a Napoleon 2.0, sends warships and declares that the Turks only still understand 'clear language', no one should be surprised if there is a shooting in the Mediterranean soon, "warns the Süddetusche Zeitung, Deutsche reports. FURIO RADIN VERSUS ISTRIAN-ITALIAN COMMUNITTY

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF'S COMMENT How Furio Radin became an intolerant, primitive Balkan sexist 24.08.2020 06:03 | Author: Robert FRANK Furio Radin (Dusko MARUSIC CICI) Furio Radin is a seemingly fine man, a solidly educated psychologist, a generally moderate politician without extremism of any kind, unobtrusive, sometimes timid in public controversies when he happens to be less prepared, but compensates for this with mild charm. For the final and positive impression of it, as well as for the gift in cellophane, all you need is a red braided bow and the package is really nice. THE TEXT CONTINUES AFTER THE AD Sponsored content Take advantage of Happy Hours opportunity and order your favorite TopShop products with discounts on total purchases! Midas - Native Internet Advertising Furio Radin, the eternal member of parliament, the methuselah of that high house, the vice-president of the Croatian Parliament for the second term in a row, is an important political figure in a ceremonial state like ours. The solid privileges that go along with this function ensure a comfortable life for him. To him it is important, very important, more important than one might even think. But, well, the man fought for it and he has the right to do so, regardless of the fact that he climbed to the top of the pyramid of power with less than 1000 votes and regardless of the fact that the Italian national minority votes for him blind to healthy eyes. Namely, what to say but just that for a few thousand Croatian citizens of Italian nationality who obviously do not see that for their political and mental health it might be good for someone else to represent them at least occasionally, instead of the already predictable and furious Furio Radino. The brilliance of his career and the cult of his character and work, carefully constructed from the early 90's until now, ten days ago was tainted by a half-affair, half-scandal, half-story about knowing, knowing, that, say, suspiciously silenced alleged embezzlement with the annual payment of the Republic of Italy to the account of the Italian Union in Croatia. Italian La Repubblica journalist Floriana Buflon sharply attacked both him and Italian Union President Maurizio Tremula. The list of their alleged sins is embarrassing and long, but it is not clear which of them is true, which is (semi) true, which is insinuation, which is real proof, and which is a lie. But it doesn't matter at all whether Furio Radin is guilty or innocent, whether he knows who he is and whether someone stole money at all or not. It's a hundred times more important that as a man who constantly calls for peace and tolerance, respect for others and different, allowed an outburst marked by complete intolerance. Although he has so far been perceived as almost harmless and harmless, one could even say a well-meaning, and thus unusual, unusual and rare politician whose voice of moderation and reason often calls for tolerance, Janus dropped out with two faces leading two different policies. One of Radin's faces is polite and affectionate, while the other, it turned out, is half-wild. Because the media, including Glas Istre, decided to deal with the topic from La Repubblica and the alleged embezzlement, Radin subdued so that only the excess of malignant people could justify the abominations he uttered. His sentence, published in public, "that he should shoot that thing for the journalist of Glas Istre and La Repubblica, as well as for the Italian consul", who, for the sake of explanation, each from his position gently asked him what was disputable with that Italian money, should would enter the anthology of Croatian political insolence. That sentence is an expression of Radin's sexism, rudeness and primitivism. Fortunately for him, society as Croatian is hypocritical. If a right-winger from the Parliament had said that, various associations would have stood up, and "that Ustasha" who attacks women with sexism would have put on a few more labels and his mouth would have been shut. Deservedly. This is how Furio Radin said that "let that thing shoot at him", so, come on, it's not so scary, he didn't think so! Realistically, by announcing "that thing is shooting at him", he showed intolerance of tolerance. He showed that he did not tolerate different opinions and did not tolerate embarrassing questions. He showed that a little Balkan man or a Balkan spirit was crouching in him. Maybe Furio from the Balkans, but not the Balkans from him! The Balkans have more meaning in this context, than that Furio, simplified, like all of us, was born and lives on this cruel, bloody, war-torn Balkans every couple of decades, to the point of behaving like a Balkan man, which in the freest translation and common opinion would mean that someone is a cheap primitive, he is dishonest, sludge for his own gain wherever he goes. The interpretation could, therefore, go in that direction, certainly unfavorable for the Vice-President of Parliament. Radin showed something else - that he does not want to answer questions that throw him out of the zone of life-political comfort for which he fought. He would rather work 30 years in Parliament, take a preferential pension and go down in history as a cowboy who is accompanied by a beloved lady in the twilight with a white handkerchief and a sob. Well, it can't be that way, Mr. Furio! The public has a right to know, and the media as its extended arm must question, although this can be disastrous for them when they catch too much. A living example of this is one of the bards of American television journalism, Dan Rathel. The CBS television network he worked for investigated U.S. President George W. Bush. Their thesis was that President Bush at one time, for which they had certain documents, avoided recruitment for the Vietnam War. Dan Rathel announced this despite the fact that journalistic research was targeted with a label of controversy in order to relativize the discovery. Because of that, he had to leave CBS under pressure, which automatically sealed his great career. Leaving with style and speech that enters the bloodstream of every conscientious, responsible and honest journalist, he scored with only 11 words - "every time American journalists stop asking questions, American society loses." That sentence summarizes all the philosophy and all the simple complexity of the relationship between journalists and politicians. The former are there to ask, the latter to answer. He who does not understand this has no help. Cheers, Furio! And yes, we don't shoot that thing for you. Your political career is proof of the tolerance of the majority towards the minority. That's the way it should be. Despite your intolerance.

PROTEST 'Happy birthday, rats': Tens of thousands flock to the streets of Minsk, demanding Lukashenko's resignation Lukashenko has not given up his 26-year rule and has been seen with an automatic rifle next to his residence for the second weekend Writes: HinaPosted: August 30, 2020 9:56 pm Protest in Minsk Protest in Minsk - / TUT.BY / AFP Facebook Twitter Messenger E-mail RELATED NEWS Protest in Minsk BELARUS Numerous people arrested in new protests against Lukashenko, security forces attacked protesters GLOBE ANALYSIS The Great Power Games around Belarus: For the West, Lukashenko is the former, now everyone is waiting for Putin's move Tens of thousands of Belarusian protesters rallied in the streets of Minsk on Sunday demanding the resignation of authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko, who is celebrating his 66th birthday, and some arrived in front of his residence singing "Happy Birthday, Rats." Lukashenko, who turned 66 on Sunday, is not giving up on the 26-year-old government, and for the second weekend he was seen armed with an automatic rifle next to his residence, according to a photo by the Russian news agency RIA, Reuters writes. Protests and strikes have been going on for weeks since Lukashenko won the Aug. 9 election with 80 percent of the vote opponents say were rigged, and he dismisses accusations and accuses protesters, whom he called "rats," of wanting to topple him led by the West. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated his colleague on his birthday and invited him to visit Moscow, a sign that the Kremlin is ready to support the Belarusian president in the face of unrest in the country and the threat of Western sanctions. Tens of thousands of protesters flocked to central Minsk on Sunday afternoon with balloons, flowers and Belarusian flags that were a symbol of anti-government protests for a short period in the early 1990s. Some women lay down on the road in front of a cordon of intervention police officers. Protesters then marched on Lukashenko's residence surrounded by a wall and security forces. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck. Presidential adviser Nikolai Latyshenko ruled out the possibility of any negotiations with the opposition and claimed that according to his belief, only 20 to 30 percent of Belarusians are against Lukashenko, Russian agencies reported. A1, one of the largest mobile operators in Belarus, announced that it has reduced the capacity of broadband internet at the request of the government. Putin's support Belarus is Russia's closest ally of all the states and territories of the former Soviet Union. In a strong message of support, Putin said on Thursday that he had set up a reserve police force that could come to Lukashenko's aid if riots in the country spiral out of control. "A meeting has been arranged in Moscow in the coming weeks," the Kremlin said in a statement following Putin's phone call on Sunday. The results of the presidential election were also rejected by the European Union, which is preparing sanctions against senior Belarusian government officials. The EU has called on Alexander Lukashenko to engage in dialogue with the opposition, but he refuses to make any concessions and condemns the "Western conspiracy" he says intends to overthrow him. The opposition, led by Svetlana Tihanovska, who fled to Lithuania for fear, staged two large protests on August 16th and 23rd, and the first protests after the August 9th elections were forcibly suppressed, killing three people, dozens more. injured and more than 7,000 protesters arrested. Journalists working in Belarus are under pressure and arrests. On Saturday, Belarusian authorities without explanation withdrew accreditations to journalists for foreign media such as AFP, AP, BBC and Radio Liberty. Svetlana Tikhanovska condemned the "moral bankruptcy" of a regime that lives on "fear and intimidation". Germany, which currently holds the presidency of the European Union, has announced it will invite the Belarusian ambassador for the withdrawal of journalistic accreditations, which Berlin calls "unacceptable". Lukashenko, in turn, threatened on Friday that if sanctions were imposed, he would cut off European transit routes through his country. Hundreds of athletes, including Olympic medalists, have announced a call for new elections on sports websites.

The defenders do not protest, the Church also gives support, here is who is the only one on both sides JUGUL FOR THE GLOBE 'Four days before the Storm in Washington, Al Gore received me, he had a message for us from Clinton ...' With General Luka Džanko and several dear friends from the VEDRA organization, anti-fascist war veterans, we were at the commemoration of the victims of war crimes in Grubori on Tuesday. We traveled along a narrow serpentine road along the green Peručko Lake, between forests and meadows, across Knin, a dilapidated, sad town where only a huge white building of the monkey name Church of Our Lady of the Great Croatian Baptism shone in the hot August sun. Eventually, through a long shady gorge, we burst into a wide valley, as if into some hidden prehistoric world, into a wilderness without people. You would almost expect a brontosaurus head on a long neck protruding above the crown. The village of Plavno is a dozen hamlets scattered on the slopes at the edges of the valley, and Grubori is probably the most remote. From the Orthodox church in the center, we travel two kilometers uphill, on a white road that construction machinery, apparently, passed shortly before us. They freshly cut vegetation and leveled a neglected forest road so that the president, two ministers and a couple of smaller budgets could easily come to lay wreaths in black limousines and address the place where Croatian special police killed six Serb civilians exactly a quarter of a century ago. one old woman of ninety, one invalid in a wheelchair, and one marginally weak-minded unfortunate woman. All the abandoned houses of Grubor, broken tiles, ruined walls and gray dilapidated shutters, can hardly be seen among the leafy hornbeams, maples, oaks, forks, wild walnuts. Blackberries ripen in dense, large bushes. While Milanović, Pupovac, Medved and Milošević, who were a meter away, spoke in unison about the necessity of reconciling their former enemies, I picked up maybe half a kilo of sweet black fruits from thorny tendrils. And I found a fig tree, almost choked with surrounding vegetation, and an apple of tiny green fruit, and a wild vine and a few dogwood trees, branches full of bright red berries. Cherries are bitter and sour, your mouth is expensive if you go to eat them raw, but the jam and juice from them are divine. We went down the angry whistle back to the church on foot. The new road was already marked in some places by the rain that fell two days ago. In the shade of the forest, through the black, rotten leaves, a small stream murmured softly, birds sang on the branches. I closed my eyes for a moment and it seemed to me that I could hear all nature constantly beating, pulsating uncontrollably with force, and I knew that everything was useless to us, excavators, bulldozers, chainsaws, mowers, shovels, machine tools, all tools and all human effort in vain before an invincible green force that will soon, in just a few weeks, as soon as the president and ministers leave, conquer all this again. In the following days I thought a lot about Grubori and Plavno, about a long ago large and rich village, where the famous Serbian educator Dositej Obradović served as a teacher , and today a desolate, cursed place, where only a few blind old women weave garlic wreaths on a table in front of the house. a day waiting for her benevolent Orthodox God to take her to himself. On Wednesday, for example, in the kitchen, while eating chicken for lunch, I heard someone on television repeat that famous lament, how we made our country, and young people, alas, are moving abroad again. What a ridiculous and miserable aspiration, I thought: to make a state. When Croatians start talking about "their country", anyone uninformed would think that it was a godsend, a civilizational feat almost in the class of sending a manned spacecraft to Mars. Why this pride? Have they ever been to a place like Grubori? The second time I came across an interview with Miomir Žužul , where he describes the extremely sensitive political circumstances in which we found ourselves in the summer of the ninety-fifth. If they had accepted the political autonomy offered by the international plan Z4, the Serbs in Knin today would have, claims the former head of Croatian diplomacy, a state within a state. We are also glad when our people say “state within a state”, as if they are mortals of almost incomprehensible authority. What kind of shitty country is Žužul talking about? Was he really impressed by the state skills of a stupid Knin policeman and the economic, political and military strength of the self-proclaimed SAO Krajina? And he really thinks that, instead of the poor, starving, discouraged SAO Krajina, with the Croatian army of the ninety-fifth finally came a serious system, a lubricated bureaucratic machine in which everyone works flawlessly, diligently, selflessly, honestly. Both before and after the Storm, and when Mile Martić ruled and Josipa Rimac shook , it doesn't matter. There was no state in Knin, nor did the state see it. Because, the state is not just a piece of washed and torn synthetic cloth that beats on the storm on the mast at the Knin fortress. And the ostentatious white Church of Our Lady of the Great Croatian Baptismal Covenant. The state is a postman on a motorcycle to whom an immobile old man in Grubori will leave ten kunas for a beer when he brings him a pension. The state is a road that will constantly bury puddles and cut the branches that hang over the forest road. And an electrician who will deftly climb on a pole and connect a cable damaged in a storm, and a teacher who will teach children the uppercase and lowercase Cyrillic letters š, and a bus driver who will board workers from industrial plants in the city every morning at six in the village. It’s a huge job that never stops. The state is here twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and not just when the president and two ministers come in black limousines. In a serious state, after all, the police would have long ago found and the court convicted those who killed an old woman of ninety, a cripple in a wheelchair and a marginally weak-minded unfortunate woman. Instead of blabbering on like “our country,” we have to admit, this is a wilderness that looks less and less like an organized human community on a daily basis. Forests are gradually conquering our settlements. Wild walnut trees sprout through roofs, hornbeam roots and maples crumble asphalt and concrete. Soon, under the lush greenery, all memories of some Croats and Serbs once living here will disappear. And it is fair to be so.

The movement was further strengthened after African-American Jacob Blake was wounded in a police shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Hundreds of cars in support of the US president arrived in an organized manner on Saturday in Portland, downtown where protesters from the Black Lives Matter movement gathered, sparking an exchange of insults, quarrels and the firing of paintball and tear gas, according to amateur footage. Local police reported "violence by protesters and counter-protesters" and police arrests. The shots resounded around 8.45pm local time in the city center and police found the victim shot in the chest. He added, calling for the establishment of "the establishment of law and order." Division policy Democrats, on the other hand, accuse the president of adding fuel to the fire and inciting violence. Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler sent an open letter to Donald Trump on Friday warning him of his “politics of division and demagoguery”. “We know you have concluded that images of violence and vandalism are your only passport to re-election,” Wheeler wrote.

AUTOR: Jurica Pavičić OBJAVLJENO: 14.04.2018. u 18:56 Zadar, 010418. Uskrsnu misu u zadarskoj katedrali svete Stosije predvodio je zadarski nadbiskup mons. Zelimir Puljic. Na fotografiji: mons. Zelimir Puljic. I zato: neka žive šaptači zmijama. Jer, njima dugujemo svijet u kojem živimo. Dugujemo im enciklopediju i parlamente, penicilin i plastiku, dugujemo im sindikate, obvezne škole i cijepljenje, dugujemo im žensko pravo glasa, pametne genske terapije, ravnopravnost spolova i ravnopravnost vjeroispovijesti.

This exhausting but inevitable engagement will cover, unfortunately, other serious social, systemic diseases that have been eating away at us for much longer, more persistently, and more destructively than any virus. It is primarily about corruption and clientelism, against which, unfortunately, the state has never declared a state of epidemic or prescribed emergency measures to combat all these backward processes and actions that discourage any proper and fair action in all segments, from production to culture. It is a big problem, namely, if this state is able to extinguish all orbitreks and ban mats in 30 minutes, but in thirty years it has not been able to at least reduce, if not completely eradicate the most vulgar forms of exploitation of public positions for private enrichment and wealth. It is disturbing to learn that in our country, by the prompt general mobilization of active, reserve and trained epidemiologists, several hundred viral suspects can be isolated daily and sent to strict self-isolation, but for decades there is no "state body" or anti-epidemiological will to all those infected with the worst, dissolving strains of the corrupt virus are isolated, located, arrested and extradited. It is bizarre that people can be found here who will estimate and prescribe the maximum number of people at parties and weddings, but that there are still no people who will have the courage to see the threatening highs in various secret networks and who will know how to say: Enough!" From this inaction, it is bizarre that small neighborhood gyms are being closed in Croatia at the same time today and investigations are being opened against large public muzzles. Citizens are not allowed to leave their apartments if someone has detected that they may have been in contact with an infected person, but some state secretaries can go for signatures for the state exam, even under corona alarms. if they did not go out on it or ever encounter the material. And so we in Croatia today have 13 people on a respirator because of the crown, but so far already 31 people in the octopus only one single affair that leads to the top of the top political elites in the country. What worries us? Are these hochstaplers ruining opportunities for capable, well-meaning professionals and patriots, or is it solely that they wore proper masks on their heads as they joined forces in illegal action that ridicules the state and humiliates its inhabitants? It will be a great pity if, under the guise of corona protection, in this forced national deconcentration which, unfortunately, can last, the real plague of today, this disgusting cocktail of corruption and clientelism, continues to develop and multiply in the heat. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković's circle of approvers has expanded considerably lately, both left and right. Due to some of his actions and gestures, judging by the results of the elections and research, he still gained temporary trust in most of them. However, the real confirmation for Plenković lies in the difficult challenge that the Prime Minister and President of the HDZ have yet to pass. In fact, a revolutionary invention is expected and demanded from Prime Minister Plenković. He must invent a vaccine against corruption and clientelism in Croatia in the short term. Vaccine, not therapy. None of this subsequent remediation, patching and healing. It is up to Plenković to enable an effective and fast system for detecting abuses in public and state services, at the top of the government, in real time. It is up to him to do the same in his party, from where the immeasurable majority of such perverse cases started. To create a framework for independent institutions to combat this without interference. Not to react only to the discoveries in the media but to prevent them by his own action. To finally declare an epidemic and establish the headquarters that this country needs. Anti-Corruption and Clientelism Headquarters. Croatia needs a "Capak" who will be obsessed with money launderers, not just personal trainers and waitresses.

Midas - Native Internet Advertising All that has been happening with the crown in Croatia in recent days in all countries where democratic traditions are developed would provoke a series of debates between the ruling party and the opposition. At least the opposition would ask how it is possible that unseen decisions of the National Civil Protection Headquarters, as in the case of those made in Croatia, could destroy the tourist season for trivial reasons, allowing nightclubs from which the virus spread. Now we are where we are. The full season has been interrupted, there will hardly be anything from the post-season, the south of Croatia is in an alarming state, and the question is how the school year will start in these circumstances. There is silence about all this in Croatia. Except for a few journalists, no one from the ranks of opposition politicians asks meaningful questions. At the same time, the INA plant in Sisak is shutting down, we learn through a mysteriously recorded telephone conversation that staffing is taking place in Croatian hospitals, and only five months after the earthquake in Zagreb, an attempt is being made to pass a law on reconstruction. The billions from Europe with which they showered us before the elections are still not arriving and in that and such an atmosphere we are looking forward to autumn, which will undoubtedly be 'warmer' than summer. And, as things stand now, there is no real opposition in Croatia at the moment. The HDZ rules sovereignly, without any competition, and everyone, from HDZ members to members of allegedly opposition parties, agrees that no one can compete with Andrej Plenković. If he wants to and if the stars match that way, from this perspective he could stay in power until retirement. And, as soon as there is no serious opposition, the danger for democracy is huge, because even the media cannot correct the mistakes of the ruling party. It has never been like this in Croatia. Not even during the time of Franjo Tudjman and the sinking of the SDP. Even then, a fragile opposition was formed, which in the end, as in the case of Ivica Račan, took responsibility for running the country. While Tudjman ruled the Croatian political scene, no one could question the political weight of Ivica Racan, as the leader of the opposition, because he was extremely appreciated by the Croatian president himself. He was also appreciated by Ivo Sanader and the opposition has always had credibility in the person of Racan. Today, there is no one in sight who would be up to Andrej Plenković's knees at all. And the SDP is sinking day by day and it is now quite clear that there will be nothing from the party even after the elections, if at least Ranko Ostojić does not join the election race at the last moment. Everyone else is extremely pale and unrecognizable, they are not at the level of leading small parties, let alone the main opposition party, which aims to overthrow the HDZ in the next elections. All that has been heard so far in the pre-campaign for the head of the SDP is sad, that it could not be sadder. It is ugly to underestimate smaller cities and areas, but it is quite clear that those who would like to compete with Plenković tomorrow cannot have only 'successes' in building local roads. And the most tragic thing in all is that all those who have so far shown ambitions to lead the SDP are terribly phrasing and cannot escape repeating empty promises that even the most loyal SDP members know will not be realized. So, nothing from the SDP. Two arms of the opposition remain, the right, led by Skoro, and the left, which is in the hands of "We Can". It is visible for the right wing that it was worn out before the real parliamentary battle began and that Miroslav Škoro is no longer a rising political star. Conversely, its glow is dark, and it is only a matter of days when the motley society will scatter in all directions. Croatia is tired of the right-wing, Ustasha nostalgia and iconography that would be permanently banned in any civilized country. It remains "We can". And the question of whether "We Can" can become the only and real alternative to the HDZ, which is still far from the center-right. Judging by what we have heard and seen so far, the answer is easy to give. He can't. However, this is a movement, primarily of smart people, but not experienced enough in politics to oppose the HDZ apparatus and the interest group that can overrun them on the ground whenever it wants. Without strong infrastructure, without money, there is no successful policy, and "We can" has neither at the moment. For Croatia, the fact that the HDZ does not have a real opposition is not good news. Regardless of the fact that the party is led by Plenković, who could easily be at the head of a more moderate, liberal party. The one-party system is never good and ultimately creates a testing ground for various embezzlements, which, thank God, are not lacking in Croatia anyway. Even the long-awaited transformation of the HDZ from a diverse society scattered from the center to the far right will not be possible until the conditions are created for the government and strong opposition. So we will be left without an answer as to who and why was so irresponsible and allowed this summer to party in nightclubs and organize weddings for hundreds of guests, which ultimately destroyed tourism and took away a lot of money to get through autumn and winter. While there are no questions from the opposition, there is no responsibility for the ruling party. Let's be completely honest, the SDP has not been a real opposition in Croatia for a long time. All these years, the HDZ authorities have either been circus performers for performances in Parliament or their questions have been at the primary school level. And that is the reason why the HDZ has strengthened, and polls show that it is still strengthening. "We can" and similar left movements are sympathetic to all those whose heart is on the left, as Račan himself used to describe it vividly, but that is still far from being a strong, organized and hard opposition. The question is whether this society of left-wing poets will ever succeed in influencing the media, institutions and all those places without which one cannot even dream of power. We are left with the HDZ, and we never know with it. And the citizens of Croatia are unique in that, because few believe that the next four years will be significantly better for us. And we should always keep in mind that we are at the European bottom, with Bulgaria, and now in the specific situation that the HDZ is the only serious political party in the country. Everyone else is an amateur, and for amateurs one can hardly find a place in high politics

NEW EVIDENCE HERE'S HOW JOSIPA RIMAC ARRANGED STATE EXAMS Published messages from her mobile phone 08/29/2020 07:30 | Author: Glas Istre GI Archive USKOK concluded that Josipa Rimac, a former state secretary in the Ministry of Administration, helped her friends and party colleagues to pass the state professional exam from messages found in her mobile phone after her arrest, writes Index.hr THE TEXT CONTINUES AFTER THE AD Sponsored content The best family shopping is waiting for you in the Top Shop. Grab -20% off all retail prices today! Midas - Native Internet Advertising It is the messages that date back to the winter of 2018 that are the new evidence that the investigators submitted by expanding the investigation against her and 13 other co-suspects. Tonight, the Telegram published the content of some messages due to which Josip Rimac is now being further investigated, but which also puts former HDZ Minister Gabrijela Žalac in an awkward situation. When, according to her messages found by investigators, former Minister Gabrijela Žalac informed her that her brother was taking the state professional exam, Josipa Rimac forwarded the information to Terezija Marić, head of the Independent Sector for Civil Status and Modernization of Administrative Procedures in the Ministry of Administration. to which the investigation was also extended. "Gabi's brother is taking the exam," she told her, adding that he works in the City of Zagreb and that "they are a little careful", according to the evidence. Gabrijela Žalac's brother, who works as an assistant head of energy in the City of Zagreb, really passed the state professional exam on May 25, 2019. "She's afraid to come to her mom if she doesn't pass." A few months later, at the end of August 2019, according to USKOK, Rimac was contacted by the famous goldsmith Paško Dodić. It was recorded that he called her and told her that one of the trainees from the Office of the Mayor of the City of Zagreb was coming to the state professional exam. "He only got the literature today and is afraid to come to his mother's house if he doesn't pass," Dodić explains to her. After that, she allegedly told Terezija Marić to "watch out" for that candidate. When Dodić, according to the information from the secret surveillance measures, told her back that his acquaintance had passed, Rimac replied: "Comrade, so let's stick to our words." According to USKOK, Dodić urged Josip Rimac at the beginning of this year for an expert associate in the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure. She passed the state professional exam on February 22, and Dodic is now a suspect. "Minister Bear's driver, please" Two state secretaries from the Ministry of Veterans' Affairs, Ivan Vukić and Nevenka Benić, who are also under investigation, allegedly urged one of the minister's drivers and one expert advisor. They took the state professional exam last summer. "Did you do anything about that driver? Please. A good driver, but he needs help for a professional," Vukic Josip Rimac wrote, according to USKOK. She then forwarded a message to Terezija Maric: "Minister Medved's driver, please." This driver passed the exam on September 7, 2019. Messages from her cousin Anita Validžić, the wife of the former Assistant Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Domagoj Validžić, who is also involved in this investigation, were also found in Josip Rimac's mobile phone. "This is begging me from agriculture" Validžić is an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture, and when she took the professional exam, Josipi Rimac called. According to USKOK, she forwarded her data to Terezija Marić, noting: "This is what they are asking me from agriculture." Anita Validžić passed the state professional exam on October 12 last year, writes Telegram. Sometime in mid-May this year, about ten days before Josipa Rimac was arrested, the head of the Customs Administration, Hrvoje Covic, addressed her. “I have one little request,” he was filmed telling her. He then explains to her that his younger brother, who normally works in the City of Vinkovci, is taking the state professional exam and will send her the information. "Just give me my first and last name," Rimac replied, according to USKOK. “No problem we take care and we will solve everything,” she assures him. According to investigators, she passed the information on Čović's brother to Terezija Marić. Talk the day before the shooting measures The director of the Police Academy, Dubravko Novak, was filmed by USKOK in a conversation with Josip Rimac just a day before the measures of secret surveillance over her broke down. According to secret recordings, he told her that the son of his security chief was taking the state professional exam and asked that he not be "massacred", writes Telegram. After the interview, which was also established from a cell phone review, she sent a message to the Secretary of State with the young man's name and surname, as well as the time of the exam and the number of the commission. According to USKOK, she forwards this message to Terezija Marić with the remark "Mole iz mupa". That candidate, as it is heard in a later conversation, barely passed. The director of the Police Academy was sent to retire on June 9th.

In the continuation, as Slobodna Dalmacija reports , she wrote that she is a single mother and that this latest decision of the Headquarters will literally reduce her to a begging stick because that is her only source of income. - So far you have not closed any business, not even the church. Why do we bother you who are the first line in the development of immunity? Why didn't you sit down with us and talk, but you are the only one doing the "lockdown" again? Masses, weddings, nightclubs are allowed until midnight, while you close us. This is grave injustice and discrimination. Do not destroy the healthiest activity in Croatia, and once again I ask you for understanding and call for dialogue - it is stated in Ivana's request sent to Capak's private number via WhatsApp. From the answer she gave us, it is evident that Capak did not accept the cry of the woman from Split the best. - This is another proof that I am to blame for everything, he began and wrote below: Wrong address, ma'am, I have nothing to do with this, the measure was passed by your County Headquarters, and the National was only confirmed. So you didn't even know who, why, how, and it's your fault ???? I am always in favor of dialogue, but I cannot bear to be blamed for everything - Capak replied. Ivana did not give up, so she asked him why he gave approval to the County Headquarters, to which he replied that he had deleted his number and that he had not given permission to anyone. In an interview for Slobodna Dalmacija, Ivana points out that she is appalled by Krunoslav Capak's way of communicating. - I sent a message to the gentleman because this spring, when there was a total "lockdown" in the whole country, we coaches, normally communicated with him about the reopening. These answers of his did not really even surprise me because I was just one little ant in relation to him, who clearly saw that he had strength and power. I am not aggressive in life, but I am very direct when my existence is endangered and I do not regret contacting him. I would do it again, although I gave up on further communication when I saw that there was no help from him - Ivana tells us. In the meantime, she contacted the prefect Blaženko Boban about the same problem , but his secretary refused. Then she sent an e-mail and a message to the head of the County Headquarters, Luka Brčić , with questions about exactly how many people were infected in gyms, how many of them were just hotspots and why they immediately decided to close them and did not prescribe stricter measures. It also offered two solutions to the problem in the form of tightening the existing measures, and that in the event of an infection in a particular fintess center, the same center should be closed for 48 hours in order to thoroughly disinfect it. Brcic thanked her for her argumentative and reasonable message. - She is my basis so that I can communicate with epidemiologists and the National Staff, I will try to contact you within an hour with feedback - he wrote on Friday before noon. - I am very worried, I don't know what will happen next - says Ivana. - I was not entitled to any measures in the first "lockdown", I was told that we are non-profit and that we have no right to anything. I was not even entitled to a deferral of any loan. Some colleagues even sell equipment and close everything. I hope, however, that he will make the decision to reopen the gyms, and as soon as possible. It is clear to everyone that this is notorious nonsense and a political decision. I don't expect him to say in three days: Yes, we failed! This is likely to last those two weeks, which is again worrying and discriminatory. This is nothing but punishment! Precedent. No one from any party contacted us or gave us support - concluded the disappointed coach.

Because, "Andrej" is the one who needs to be broken and his should be the last one about who will be the head of the hospital. Nothing new. It is common knowledge that for years the entire health care system has been staffed according to a political key. While the HDZ is in power, it puts its people at the head of hospitals, and when the SDP takes over, it puts its own in the same way. No matter how legal the competitions in which directors are elected, and the people who come to leading positions professional and capable, the criterion of party eligibility has turned the system of appointments in health care, as well as in everything else that the state (politics) keeps, part of systemic corruption. government of Croatia. And that is what pulls us to the bottom the most and at the same time the biggest challenge for Andrej Plenković. The prime minister managed to divert the HDZ from the far right ideological direction and position it in the direction of the moderate right-wing party, which is gaining the support of center-right voters. There remains, however, another problem that Plenković has never spoken about publicly and openly as a problem of the HDZ, and that is clientelism and the propensity for corruption that are in the party's bloodstream. The Prime Minister has had a very hard time dealing with that so far. Suffice it to recall that in the last term he had to get rid of almost half of his Government because the ministers found themselves in a conflict of interest and built their fortunes on dubious jobs. All of them, from Gabrijela Žalac , through Milan Kujundžić, Goran Marić, Lovro Kuščević, Tomislav Tolušić and others, found it difficult to renounce and confess their sins. But in the last term he was in a significantly different situation. The government was composed of intra-party compromises, and the parliamentary majority rested on the mercy of politically lost souls such as Tomislav Saucha and Milan Bandić's "token" . It is questionable how much Plenković could have fought against intra-party clientelism in that struggle for survival and political survival, even if he wanted to. Now, however, the situation is different. Plenković literally swept the competition in the internal party elections, he compiled the electoral lists through which he delegated his members of parliament without internal party compromises and shares, he formed a one-party government, and he secures the majority only with the support of minority representatives. So the prime minister has a free hand to reform the HDZ to the end and break the deep-rooted clientelistic network. If we are to be optimistic (or naive), we can imagine that the recording of the conversation between Dijana Zadravec and Minister Beroš, who testifies that the reference to "Andrej" did not help her become the head of the hospital, was released to be a message to everyone else who wants to progress in the same way. . A one-party government and a weak opposition are a terrible lure to ignite corruption, which poses a huge challenge for Plenković. Let us remember that in the first term , Ivo Sanader ideologically normalized the HDZ, and in the second he went into theft.

The Hungarians will be able to get out of the 14-day self-isolation only if they have two negative tests on Covid-19, Gergely Gulyas said . Exceptions to the entry ban apply to the passage of military convoys, humanitarian workers, and business and diplomatic travel. “The number of infections has increased and most of them come from abroad,” Gulyas told a news conference. He says restrictions are needed to start the school year next week and to protect people and the economy. Hungary reported 132 new infections on Friday, the highest daily record since the peak of the pandemic. The country records a total of 5,511 infected and 614 dead. Nationalist Orban, who has been in power for a decade, faces the biggest challenges in his rule. The Hungarian economy fell 13.6 percent in the second quarter of this year. Hungary began easing restrictions in May. “We would not like to reintroduce closure measures,” Gulyas said. Budapest should host the Super Cup match between European champions Bayern and European League winners Seville in September. All the matches of the final stages of these competitions were played without an audience, but UEFA decided that up to 30 percent of the capacity of the Puskas Arena, which can accommodate 67,215 fans, may be filled. Hungarian authorities are considering measures under which fans could be at the match. Gulyas said UEFA plans to allow 3,000 Bayern and Seville fans to come to the stadium. One option being considered is for fans to have two negative tests on Covid-19 at the airport, to be transported to the stadium afterwards and returned to the airport after the match. Gulyas says the government has not yet decided on the measures and is also negotiating with UEFA.

CROATIA COMMENT

Hrvoje Prnjak: Our economy has shaken like never before, but that could be good news for the Government. The Minister of Finance knows best why HRVOJE PRNJAK WRITES August 28, 2020 - 3:50 p.m. Minister Marić and Prime Minister Plenković Minister Marić and Prime Minister Plenković Bruno Konjević / HANZA MEDIA Facebook Twitter Print The absurdity with election promises is that, as a rule, they are seldom or only partially realized due to - the first next campaign. Well, I guess you won't go into reforms and cuts before the elections. It is not very wise to resent the voters, to "unnecessarily" reject some who would otherwise give you their vote ... I guess there are other forms of luxury that politicians can afford. After all, there are always some elections on the political horizon anyway. Here, in May next year, we will all go to the local elections. Despite this, the latest bad economic news - especially the one about the drastic fall in GDP in the second quarter of as much as 15.1% - can also be seen as good news. Although it is the fifth worst result in the EU - after Spain, France, Italy and Portugal. How can this send good news now? Especially if we know that the Central Bureau of Statistics also announced that household consumption decreased by 14 percent in the second quarter and that investments fell by 14.7 percent. Imports of goods and services fell 28.1 percent. Exports of goods fell by 10.6 percent in the same period, and exports of services shook the most - by as much as 67.4 percent. Nigger to nigger ... We haven't had such bad statistics since the war days! By what magic can all this become good news ?! Well, it can! Croatia's worst quarterly GDP in the last 25 years, as measured by national accounts statistics, means that the government does not need any excuses to implement reforms and cuts, even the most painful ones. Those with whom we would otherwise, let's be honest, probably calculate this time as well, at least here and there, for pragmatic reasons of satisfying the electoral base. But cheap vote buying could cost the state finances too much this time around. As the Minister of Finance Zdravko Marić himself pointed out, we have a drop in GDP that far exceeds the shocking 9 percent since then during the last great crisis ... And that is why it will be necessary to shake up expenditures well, among other things. Maybe just to the taste of the finance minister. All this could mean that public administration reforms will be accelerated, which is often mentioned as an acute burden of any executive power, but also of a more efficient functioning of the economy. "We are facing challenges," Maric himself admitted to reporters today. "Yes, it's easy, it's not easy," the minister said. When asked by journalists about the urgency of cuts, especially in public administration, Maric raised his hand: "I would not draw such an unambiguous conclusion. Everything concerning public administration is not the only structural reform. It is not just a question of number. employer, and these people have their families. We need rationalization and greater efficiency. " Of course, this is an ideal opportunity for politicization, exaggeration and subsequent brainstorming of all kinds - today, after the announcement of the fall in GDP, we heard one from Vesna Vučemilović from Škorina's Homeland Movement, according to which Government measures, ie support, did not give any results - but it is clear that all users of the state budget will have to adapt to new circumstances, that nothing more, as you have heard so many times in recent months, "will not be the same". But in this case, literally. Because, Marić will certainly not suggest that the solution be - printing money ... True, the data for the third quarter will be more favorable due to such a tourist season, which will have a positive effect on the annual balance sheets, ie the movement of GDP on an annual basis. But here is an opportunity for the Government to show its reform character and speed up with someone reforms-cuts that the public has long called for. The opposition also ... Minister, how's the old one ... Hic Rhodus, hic salta!

VICTIM OF THE REGIME Lawyer dies in Turkey after 238 days of hunger strike: 'She weighed 30 kilograms at the time of death' The lawyer's death has shaken many civil society representatives in Turkey and Europe Writes: HinaPosted: August 28, 202 Recep Tayyip Erdogan (top right); Kiriakos Micotakis (bottom left) TURKEY VS GREECE How the 100-year-old conflict flared up, what is the role of Cyprus and why did Erdogan make things worse TERRIBLE DEATH Horror in the very north of Europe: A polar bear pulled a man out of a tent and killed him After a 238-day hunger strike in Istanbul, a Turkish lawyer died seeking a "fair trial" after being convicted of terrorism. “ Ebru Timtik from our law firm has died, ” colleagues wrote on Twitter. She was 42 years old. Last year, she was sentenced to more than 13 years in prison for "belonging to a terrorist organization." In February, looking for a new process, she began a hunger strike. Ebru Timtik drank only sweetened water, herbal teas and vitamins, and at the time of her death she weighed 30 kilograms, ”her family said. On Friday, there was a brief clash between people close to lawyers and police as a forensic vehicle passed by with her body. Police used tear gas and used shields to push the crowd away, AFP reports. In front of the prison on Friday, however, a tribute and then a funeral prayer were organized. Hundreds of people chanted "Ebru Timtik is immortal", reports AFP. Along with Aytaca Unsala , who is also on a hunger strike in prison, Ebru Timtik was a member of the Association of Contemporary Lawyers, which specializes in defending politically sensitive cases. Turkish authorities accuse the association of being linked to the Marxist-Leninist organization DHKP-C, a group that has committed several assassinations and which Ankara and its Western allies call "terrorist". Ebru Timtik, among others, represented the family of Berkin Elvan , a young man who died in 2014 from injuries sustained during anti-government protests in Gezi Park in 2013. Last month, a court in Istanbul refused to release Ebra Timtik, despite a medical report. A similar request was submitted to the Constitutional Court in August, also without success. In July, Ebru Timtik and Unsal were transferred to two hospitals. The lawyer's death has shaken many civil society representatives in Turkey and Europe.

JOSIPA RIMAC SAMO JE ŽRTVENIČKI EGZEKUTOR NAJVEĆE KORUPCIJSKE HOBOTNICE HRVATSKE VLADE I KATOLIČKE NEUPUČENE PASTVE

PEOPLE FROM THE SECRET NETWORK There were as many as 31 people in Josip Rimac's corrupt octopus, more and more officials are mentioned USKOK has now covered a number of cases of rigging the state professional exam through Rimac By: Željko PetrušićPosted: August 28, 2020 7:39 am Josipa Rimac (middle) Josipa Rimac (middle) Hanza Media Facebook Twitter Messenger E-mail RELATED NEWS Josipa Rimac and Gabrijela Žalac EXTENDED INVESTIGATION Josipa Rimac presented her defense, Žalac without comment on the accusations that she was arranging the state exam for her brother NEW DETAILS In expanding the investigation against Josip Rimac, Uskok also mentions Ćorić's assistant as a defendant The latest USKOK expansion of the investigation against the former state secretary in the Ministry of Administration and former Knin mayor Josip Rimac did not bring new spectacular accusations, but it included many very resounding names of former and current state officials and heads of individual institutions and public companies. Thus, among others, although USKOK investigated her because of the Mercedes affair and the possible rigging of tenders in the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, former Minister Gabrijela Žalac eventually "fell", according to unofficial information, for encouraging Josip Rimac to ensure her brother passed state professional exam whether or not he deserved it. Rimac reportedly made an effort to do her that favor. USKOK has included a number of other such cases of rigging the state professional exam through Josip Rimac. An investigation has also been launched against the state secretary in the Ministry of Veterans' Affairs, Ivan Vukić , who is charged, Jutarnji list has learned, that he arranged for the exam to be taken by the driver of Minister Tomislav Medved . In addition to him, USKOK has launched an investigation against Nevenka Benic , also a state secretary in the same ministry. Kinship Arranging the exam through Josip Rimac and her current connections in the Ministry of Administration - at least one employee of that ministry is co-accused - is also charged against the former director of the Police Academy, now retired Dubravko Novak , director of the Customs Administration Hrvoje Covic , head of the Ministry of Health Velibor Drakulic. , advisors to the Minister of Agriculture Anita Validžić and the Deputy Mayor of Gvozd Marija Idžan , as well as to the famous Zagreb goldsmith Paško Dodić . Several unknown persons who took the state professional exam through this connection were also co-accused. After criminal prosecution was launched against HEP Board member Saša Dujmić at the end of June for illegally hiring sister Josip Rimac into the HEP system, USKOK has now extended the charge to HEP-ODS Director Nikola Šulentić . Finally, the expansion of the investigation includes the current Assistant Minister of Environmental Protection and Energy Domagoj Validžić, otherwise the husband of the already mentioned Anita Validžić, who is related to Rimac. Validzic was relieved of his duties by the government yesterday. USKOK accuses him of trying to obtain favorable decisions for CEMP regarding the higher purchase price of electricity at the request and in agreement with Josip Rimac, urging the owners of the wind farm first in HROTE, and then, when they did not meet it, through the ministry. to which he worked. In its statement, USKOK stated that, in fact, the arrest of Josip Rimac prevented the Ministry from making a decision that would favor CEMP. Josipa Rimac, who has been in the Remetinec remand prison since the end of May, was brought to the USKOK premises in Vlaška Street yesterday due to a new expansion of the investigation. As her lawyer Lidija Horvat stated after the interrogation , Rimac stated that she did not feel guilty and presented her defense, but did not want to answer the prosecution's questions. Influence on witnesses Lawyer Horvat complained about USKOK's actions, pointing out that the decision to expand the investigation was made again two days before the court hearing on the extension of the pre-trial detention, as was done at the end of June. Josipi Rimac's pre-trial detention was extended in June due to possible influence on witnesses by two months, so it expires tomorrow. The competent investigating judge of the Zagreb County Court should decide today whether there is a danger that Rimac will influence the newly proposed witnesses, "resulting" from the last expansion of the investigation. It depends on whether he will extend the remand prison again or let her defend herself from freedom. By the way, this affair now covers a total of 32 people. The biggest and most serious charges against Josip Rimac were "opened" in the basic investigation, launched in late May. One count of the indictment relates to favoring the bosses of CEMP, still unavailable to Milenko Bašić and Dragan Stipić, in connection with the issuance of various permits and approvals for their Krš - Pađena wind farm. She is accused of influencing the co- suspected heads of Croatian Forests Krunoslav Jakupčić and Ivan Melvan to withdraw previously issued negative opinions from the technical inspections for the wind farm, and of promising them all the necessary help from the Ministry of State Property, which she did not receive. According to USKOK, it also influenced the President of the Management Board of HERA, Tomislav Jureković, to ensure the adoption of appropriate acts, which enabled Bašić's company to acquire the status of a privileged producer of electricity. Bribe € 45,000 For these services, she agreed with the heads of CEMP on a bribe of 45,000 euros, which was to be paid to her through her sister, from a brokerage commission for concluding an insurance policy for the wind farm. There is also a point related to "lobbying" services for entrepreneurs Josip Ravlić and Ante Sladić who are engaged in cattle breeding and they emphasized that through the adoption of amendments to the Decree on the lease of forest land owned by the Republic of Croatia increase incentives. They also wanted to lease agricultural land in the Gračac municipality through Rimac. According to the indictment, Josipa Rimac made considerable efforts to benefit them, agreeing with them to pay bribes, both for herself and for other people who needed their help. According to the agreement, she was to receive two plots of land in the Rogoznica area with a total size of about 10,000 square meters and a certain amount of money in cash. She handed over 10,000 euros to Ružica Njavro , chief of staff of the Minister of Agriculture and a member of the Management Board of the Agency for Payments in Agriculture, and agreed to receive another half a million kuna from these entrepreneurs after making decisions in their favor. The mayor of Gračac, Nataša Turbić, also forwarded 10,000 euros from the same entrepreneurs for arranging the land lease. Josip Rimac is also charged with asking the assistant minister of economy, co-defendant Ana Mandac , to take all necessary measures to grant aid to the crafts of her friends and relatives in Knin in the process of awarding grants from that ministry. In return, one of them decorated her house in Vodice at prices much lower than the market. Officials involved in the affair are waiting for a quick dismissal A number of government officials are involved in a new phase of the investigation into former State Secretary Josip Rimac, and are mostly suspected of asking the former Knin mayor for help in securing passage for state professional exams for several people. They can all expect dismissals, which was announced yesterday by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. - According to what we could understand, the investigation is talking about an additional 18 defendants. We support the work of DORH, USKOK, PNUSKOK, all independent institutions and we expect further procedures to be carried out thoroughly, within a reasonable time - he said, adding that those who are determined to be responsible and accountable, and announced that The government, if it is about some people who have certain political duties, should withdraw political moves from that side. Minister of Justice and Administration Ivan Malenica announced that he would ask the State Attorney's Office for a list of people covered by the new branch of the investigation in order to be able to act in accordance with regulations related to officials, who cannot be removed politically. The government unofficially says that they will make these decisions quickly. - At first glance, it seems that these are acts that were done at a lower level, about which the ministers are not and have no knowledge. We condemn any such form of corruption and we will resolutely fight against it - they say from the Banski dvori. Along with Domagoj Validžić, who was relieved of his duties as Assistant Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tomislav Ćorić at a closed session of the Government yesterday at his own request, the investigation also included his wife Anita Validžić , an adviser in the cabinet of Agriculture Minister Marija Vučković . There is also the former Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds, Gabrijela Žalac, who asked for an exam for her brother, and according to the suspicions of illegal employment, the director of HEP ODS, Nikola Šulentić, is suspected. The list also includes two state secretaries in the Ministry of Croatian Veterans, Ivan Vukić , who allegedly asked for the driver's exam for Minister Tomo Medved , and a longtime official in that Ministry, State Secretary Nevenka Benić. By the way, the day before yesterday, the bear was seen in front of the Government entering the official car and driving himself, without a driver. Assistant Minister of Finance Zdravko Marić and Director of the Customs Administration Hrvoje Čović are also suspected, who also, it is suspected, asked Rimac to arrange the state professional exam. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Velibor Drakulić, is also suspected of the same act, as is Dubravko Novak , who retired on June 16 after 27 years of work in the Ministry of the Interior as the head of the Police Academy. The investigation also includes Marija Idžan , HDZ's deputy mayor of Gvozd, and the well-known Zagreb goldsmith Paško Dodić . ( Goran Penic )

"ICIDENT" IN SYRIA

INCIDENT IN SYRIA Clash of world superpowers: More Americans wounded in Russian attack, footage of clashes "More Russian vehicles are unsafely in pursuit of Americans," the Pentagon confirmed. The brief draft of the military statement does not distinguish the circumstances of the incident, which, as Politico reports , took place this week. The soldiers did not suffer any serious injuries, mostly mild contusions and concussions, according to a report compiled by the Pentagon. Confirmation of the incident comes after footage of a close meeting between US and Russian forces appeared on Twitter earlier Wednesday, showing a vehicle allegedly belonging to the Russian side crashing into the US, all while being monitored in low flight by a Russian helicopter. The Pentagon did not confirm the authenticity of these recordings, but in the draft of their statement they confirm that there was a deliberate driving of a Russian into a vehicle belonging to the 'coalition', ie the American and allied forces in Syria. Although Donald Trump has ordered the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Syria, there are still about 500 troops there, mostly in the northeast of the state. Together with opponents of Bashar al-Assad's regime, they are fighting the remnants of the Islamic State, and although Russian forces allied with Assad are operating in close proximity, care has always been taken to avoid close encounters between members of the world's superpowers. As Politico notes, in the past few months, the Russians have begun to penetrate more and more territory that was previously controlled by the Americans, trying to push them out of that country to the end. Although there have been minor incidents so far, they have been extremely rare and only one has been violent. It is a multi-hour battle that took place in 2018, in which American commandos killed 200 to 200 members of Assad's forces and Russian mercenaries from the private company Wagner group.

BORBA ZA PREVLAST SDP, OD PARISKOG KONGRESA 1900 GODINE DO DANAS, JEDNA JE OD NAJVEĆIH NIZBRDICA

GLOBUS: BATTLE FOR SDP Can the favorite lose: 'For Grbin, he is the most dangerous man to whom he was personally the head of the campaign!' 'His potential entry into the race is very dangerous for Pedja. The two shoot at the same membership profile ' Writes: Marko SpoljarPosted: August 26, 2020 5:35 pm Pedja Grbin Pedja Grbin Goran Mehkek / Cropix Facebook Twitter Messenger E-mail RELATED NEWS Pedja Grbin SDP BIRA Grbin aims to win in the first round, Ahmetović and Kolar call for unity COLLECTED 1400 SIGNATURES Peđa Grbin submitted his candidacy for SDP chief, and commented on Bernardić's party in Gardaland If the new president of the SDP was elected by our voters from the last parliamentary elections or if he was elected by all our sympathizers, the new head of the party would be Pedja Grbin . But he is elected by members of the party. And not everyone, but only those who paid the membership fee or settled their debts on time. This has significantly reduced the electorate and in such circumstances the race for a new party leader is completely open. Although Grbin is still the favorite, his victory is not certain - claims one of the experienced members of the still strongest opposition party. In addition to Grbin, Krapina-Zagorje County Prefect Željko Kolar and Omišalj Mayor and freshly elected Member of Parliament Mirela Ahmetović have so far run for SDP chief . As the candidacy process is open until the end of August, it is possible that there will be more than three contenders for Davor Bernardić's successor . Although a much larger number of people are registered in the membership register, about 12,000 voters will have the right to vote in the elections to be held in exactly one month (September 26). Namely, only so many of them regularly paid the membership fee or settled their debts within the set deadline - which has passed. - The fact that the new party president will be able to be elected by a much smaller number of voters is most helpful to the candidate who has the strongest direct influence on the party base, on the ground. To the candidate who controls the largest number of local organizations, ie the largest number of our members. And of the well-known candidates so far, it is certainly Željko Kolar. Apart from being the prefect of Krapina-Zagorje County for two terms and during that time he has certainly developed his network on the ground, his candidacy is supported by many party organizations in the north and northwest of Croatia, as well as presidents of several county organizations such as Mladen Kešer, head of Koprivnica-Križevci SDP - the president of the SDP of Varaždin County Barbara Antolić Vupora or Tihomir Jaić , the leader of the Bjelovar-Bilogora SDP ... - says the SDP official for Globus, who is actively lobbying for Peđa Grbin in the campaign. - Imagine next to the Prime Minister and the head of the HDZ Andrej Plenković first Kolar, then next to Plenković imagine Ahmetović, and then Peđa Grbin. Let's not joke, Grbin is the only one of them who can match the head of the ruling party. And as the SDP president is always seen as a candidate for the future prime minister, the choice is - at least I hope - obvious. However, it is my deep conviction that the most dangerous opponent for Grbin is neither Kolar nor Ahmetović, but Ranko Ostojić , who is still valid whether he will run for the party leader. Namely, it is completely clear that Grbin has the best chance of becoming the president of the party if he wins in the first round, because it would be much harder to win in the second. It seems to me that in that case Grbin would be in great danger, regardless of whether Mirela Ahmetović or Željko Kolar will enter the second round. Their voters are much more similar to each other than those of Pedja Grbin. And that’s why Rank’s potential entry into the race is very dangerous for Pedja. Namely, the two of them can count on a very similar profile of SDP members, that is, they would fight for votes from the same pool, and it is easily possible that in the end they would both remain short-sleeved - our interlocutor claims. A similar calculation was made by Ranko Ostojić, who, before the candidacy process even began, said in an interview with Nacional: “There is no need to explain my opinion about Peđa Grbin because he was the leader of my campaign when I was a presidential candidate. parties four years ago, and in that campaign we were literally alone. Then, all ministers from the Government of Zoran Milanović stood behind Orsat Miljenić , the rest were with Bernardić. I was not the favorite of Zoran Milanović, our only allies at that time were members of the SDP and I still entered the second round. But as the difference was large in favor of Bernardic, many, as it happens, ran into the tent of the likely winner. That mistake should not be repeated now. Here I give the answer for my candidacy because Pedja and I certainly have an identical program. The question is who would the members choose to implement this type of program. " Although Ostojic believes that Grbin lacks leadership, he said at the time that he had not yet made a decision on whether to run for the new SDP chief because he "does not want to harm Grbin". One week before the deadline for candidacies, we asked Ranko Ostojic if he had made a decision in the meantime and if he might, if not for president, run for at least a member of the Presidency or the Main Board. - I will be a candidate in the elections, but I have not yet decided which position - Ranko Ostojić says for Globus. Although the election rules allow candidates to run for both party president and member of the Presidency and Main Board at the same time, Ostojic claims he will run for only one position. - Usually I was not the one who ran for more positions. After all, in the last internal party elections, I only ran for party president. I always go into the game openly, I don’t calculate with reserve positions. In addition, I already have a high position in the SDP (he is the president of the SDP organization in the Split-Dalmatia County, n. A.) And there is no need to accumulate positions - he claims. He adds that the party current that was closest to the still current party leader Davor Bernardic in recent years after the debacle in the parliamentary elections will probably not throw out any of them for the presidential candidate, but will try to pull the strings from the shadows. - Their tactic will be to "go against", to support the one with whom they will have less problems, which means that they are uniting against Grbin, who openly and publicly says that the new SDP cannot be built with the people who ruined it - he says. Ranko Ostojic is just one of many in the party who are convinced that high-ranking SDP members who have supported Bernardic for years will now unite against Grbin. - Things are developing so far, so that the team has already started lobbying strongly for Kolar on the field. Not because they think he is the best choice for the new SDP leader, but because they do not perceive him as a threat to their future status and ambitions in the party. The team still includes the current vice president of the party Rajko Ostojic, then the mayor of Koprivnica Misel Jaksic , then Vukovar SDP and Zeljko Sabo , then the leadership of our organization in Brod-Posavina County, as well as heads of several county organizations such as Mladen Keser, Tihomir Jaic and Barbara Antolic Vupore - says Globus' election from the SDP leadership. Our interlocutor from Kolar's team claims that his presidential candidacy is supported by a dozen presidents of county organizations, that the Krapina-Zagorje County Prefect has become a favorite in the race for SDP leader a few days ago, and that he is supported on the ground by some SDP mayors. also mentioned the already mentioned Jakšić. The mayor of Koprivnica, however, told Globus that neither he nor the SDP's city organization have yet decided who to support as the party's new head. - I have not yet made a final decision on who I will personally support. This week, we will discuss the candidacies at the level of the city SDP in Koprivnica and at the level of the leadership of the county SDP. As far as I am concerned, I may only run for a member of the SDP Main Board - says Mišel Jakšić. In an interview with Globus, Krapina-Zagorje County Prefect Željko Kolar claims that he is not a candidate of "any of the party groups", regardless of the fact that some heads of SDP county organizations have already publicly supported him. - I primarily expect the support of all members who are not satisfied with the current situation in the party. Well, we have a parliamentary club of MPs in which two groups of people can no longer even talk to each other normally, let alone anything more than that. I seek broad support among the membership. Any support from any county, city or municipal organization is equally valuable to me, because it means creating a critical mass of people who are aware that we need to change. The SDP has a chance only if we discuss programs, giving space to young people and new ideas in the campaign. If they're going to spin the same thing, then we don't stand a chance. Either we will mobilize completely or we will fail. In that sense, I expect the widest possible support - says Kolar. The enumerated team of Krapina-Zagorje County is opposed by Peđa Grbin, who is supported in the race for the new head of the SDP by many strong SDP players. There are also members of the SDP Presidency who were suspended by Davor Bernardic and whose sentences recently expired Vedran Babic and Sinisa Hajdas Doncic , then the head of the parliamentary club Arsen Bauk and the head of the Zagreb SDP Gordan Maras , MEP Biljana Borzan , then Ivan Račan , as well as some SDP mayors like Kristina Ikić Baniček from Sisak or Miša Krstičević from Ploče. In an interview with Globus, Peđa Grbin claims that he does not run in the internal party elections as a part or as the leader of the bloc, and that he considers this to be an extremely bad practice. - Unlike the example from the HDZ, I am in no way advocating the anointing of someone for office in the party. In the SDP, elections are democratic, all party bodies are elected on the same day, and all party bodies are elected under the same conditions by all party members. I am convinced that I can cooperate with everyone in the SDP. However, I think it would be good for the SDP to elect people who have achieved results in their political careers so far, people who have good ideas about the direction in which they would go. SDP and Croatia were supposed to move, as well as people who have not ruined the SDP with their work so far. These are the criteria I follow and anyone who fits them is a collaborator for me. Mišo Krstičević and Biljana Borzan and Siniša Hajdaš Dončić and Kristina Ikić Baniček and Ivan Račan and Matej Mostarac , but also Mirela Ahmetović and Željko Kolar , are among the colleagues who have nominated candidates for the highest party bodies so far . When the others point out the candidacies, I will be able to talk about them as well - says Grbin. And who does he consider the most dangerous opponent and does he expect Ranko Ostojić's candidacy for party leader? - Both Mirela and Željko are good candidates, and Mirela and Željko are doing their job well in their communities and I will see both in my team after the internal party elections. I am not speculating with anyone's candidacy or name, each of us who has run so far has done it alone, and so will others if they think it is necessary - says Grbin. Unlike Kolar's and Grbin's, Mirela Ahmetović's presidential ambitions are not publicly and unreservedly, at least for now, supported by any of the SDP's strongest players. While for some of our interlocutors it is proof of her weak chances, for others it is her biggest advantage. - She is the only one who can be publicly "sold" as new on the national political scene and if during this campaign her public appearances are clear and attractive not only to our members but also to SDP voters, things can turn in her favor at the end of the campaign. . She is the "dark horse" of the race for the new head of the SDP - says an experienced SDP member. Just like Kolar and Grbin, so Mirela Ahmetović goes to the polls for all or nothing. Namely, although the rules allow it, none of them - except for the presidency - ran for any other position in the future leadership of the party. - I said clearly and loudly that I am thinking from which position I can help my SDP the most. And given the measures I envisage, which could help the SDP, I think I can do that from the position of party president. I don't need reserve positions. I have never specifically asked for public support, I ask for support from all members of the party, regardless of whether they are in some positions or are ordinary members who work for the benefit of the party. Each member has one and equally valuable vote. I think that the members of the party are thinking for themselves and that they will vote for the one they trust to stand behind their words and whom they trust to put into action what they are now publicly proclaiming during the campaign. I have no doubt at all in the support of SDP members because my measures are the most concrete and the best - says Mirela Ahmetović.
