There are several free testing options, and it is possible to use them until next Friday, or August 21st. All persons who returned from Croatia during this period - regardless of whether they have visible symptoms of infection or not - can call the special telephone line 1450, after which a mobile medical team will visit them at home and take a sample for testing for coronavirus. Also, from Sunday, August 16, those returnees who do not have symptoms of infection can be tested free of charge at the famous Vienna Ernst Happel Stadium, where they have a drive-in test, but it is also possible to come on foot and give a sample. It was there that the gargling test was first introduced, which can test many people in a short period of time. City Health Councilor Peter Hacker said this new test was another strong proof of the effectiveness of Vienna's health system and crisis management, and that Vienna's city administration had found quick solutions at the start of the pandemic to successfully protect the health of all Viennese. Namely, several Viennese organizations were involved in the whole process, and in just a few hours a drive-in test station was set up at the stadium. Councilor Hacker added that they want to gain additional experience in using the gargle test, which will be used in kindergartens and schools in the fall. For all those who arrive from Croatia to Vienna after August 17, a new provision applies, according to which a negative PCR test must be presented or returned within 48 hours of entering the country upon return to Austria
