The new HDZ MP and mayor of Rugvica, Mato Čičak , has come up with a convenient way to omit a house on Hvar from his property card, for which he took out a loan of one million kuna in October last year.
As the documents obtained exclusively by Telegram prove, on October 21, he took out a housing loan in the amount of HRK 1,000,000 in Erste & Steiermärkische banka. Mato Čičak is clearly listed as the beneficiary of a loan for a house in Rudine on Hvar, but his mother, Mara Čičak , was eventually registered as the owner of the property .
THE LOAN WILL PAY FOR 30 YEARS
According to the contract, the total purchase price was EUR 200,000, so it is evident that Mato Čičak secured the largest part of that amount with a loan. The house consists of ground floor, first floor, balconies, terraces and garage, with a total area of 278 square meters, with a yard of 227 square meters. As can be seen from the contract, Mato Čičak therefore undertook to repay the loan in 360 annuities amounting to HRK 4,144.85 per month. The interest rate on the loan is 2.90 percent.
After Mate Čička's loan was secured by a pledge on this Hvar real estate on November 13, 2019, Mara Čičak, as a buyer, entered into a purchase agreement with the sellers in Osijek. In February this year, the mayor of Rugvica and today's member of parliament duly registered the mentioned loan in his property card. But when Telegram sent him an inquiry for the purpose of raising the million, he did not answer.
NICE HOLE IN THE LAW
His move could potentially inspire other officials as well. Namely, the law does not see anything disputable in the fact that his mother is registered as the owner of the real estate for which he personally took out a loan, because only the property of spouses, not parents, must be entered in the property card.
Telegram contacted the Conflict of Interest Commission about this unusual case anyway, and they really don't see anything controversial there. "In the regular verification of data from the official's property report, the commission compares real estate data with data entered in the land register, and if the official's mother is registered as the owner, the official is not obliged to state the property in the property report," they replied.
This is not an interesting story about the property of a new MP who was sent to the Parliament by the HDZ after Dražen Barišić ended up in pre-trial detention due to the Janaf affair. The Telegram has published two research texts in the last ten days; we first discovered that as the mayor of Rugvica he converted his and his father's land into construction land, and then that the house in which he lives is not legal .
