After the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announced that students would have to move out of student dormitories as part of the stricter measures due to the coronavirus, students protested in Belgrade. Exam deadlines are underway, which is why students do not want to move out of dormitories.
N1 reports that students went on a protest walk shouting ‘We won’t go home’. Now they are moving towards the Assembly, and they have announced that they will move towards the Government building if a decision is not made by 6 pm tomorrow that they can still stay in their homes.
Students walk around the city in a column and shout ‘Get out’, inviting other citizens to join them.
Blic writes that student dormitories in Belgrade will not be closed after all. An acceptable solution will be found and epidemiological measures in homes will be strengthened. That was allegedly agreed tonight after Vučić talked to the students. They, on the other hand, say that they do not accept partial information but ask for an official decision.
In front of the Slobodan Penezić Student Dormitory in Belgrade, President Vučić gave an interview, and in the background, students were heard banging on pots in protest. They also used whistles, and the police arrived at the gathering place, reports N1 .
As a reminder, Vučić announced earlier tonight that nightclubs in Belgrade would be closed for two weeks from 11 pm to 6 am. The same will apply to cafes. A maximum of 100 people will be allowed to gather indoors and 500 in the open. Those who do not wear masks on public transport and in shopping malls will be punished
