A series of childhood traumas, followed by his father Frederick 's intimidating patriarchy , "destroyed" Donald Trump's ability to develop and experience the full spectrum of human emotions, according to a new book to be published soon, niece of US President Mary L. Trump .
In the book, Trump’s niece, the daughter of his older brother Fred , describes a complex and often problematic family history, which provides a kind of psychological analysis of the American president. He states that Trump was constantly faced with his father’s criticism, and his life was marked by a struggle for his father’s favor.
Mary is the daughter of Trump’s older brother Fred who passed away from alcoholism in 1981, when she was just 16 years old. This was confirmed to the Washington Post by the president himself last year, when he said that he regretted that Fred, at his father's urging, "pushed" him into the family business. Mary claims that her grandfather Fred (after whom her father was also named) was a sociopath who used people for his own purposes, and his excessive dominance strongly influenced Donald.
- Fred twisted the image of the world in young Donald's head and damaged his ability to adapt to the world. His father lied to him on a daily basis, a mechanism that was subsequently “picked up” by his children as well because it was a learned “way of survival”.
'He despised failure'
For Donald, he says, lying is the predominant means by which he tries to convince the world that he is worth more than is really the case. Mary describes her late father as a person with an innate sense of humor, an adventurer, but also a gentle man, which he constantly had to hide from his hard and rude father, because gentleness in the family was not a desirable trait.
- Fred (senior) despised his son if he was unsuccessful in something, and even if he did not intuitively feel what was expected of him. But he hated it even more if his son apologized for the mistake. The father would then humiliate him, mock him, say that his son must be a “killer” in everything.
Donald, who was seven and a half years younger than his brother and spent his entire childhood watching his father treat his brother, states Mary in a book entitled "Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the Most Dangerous Man in the World."
- The lesson he learned, simplified, is - do not be like Freddy if you want people to respect you - writes Mary in a book that is already, by pre-order, a convincing bestseller ..
Mary Trump (55) is a doctor of clinical psychology and the book is conceived as a psychological portrait of one of the most powerful people in the world, writes the Washington Post .
He says a significant event in Trump’s life was his brother’s death. He personally felt responsible for forcing his brother to take over the family business, instead of following his dream and becoming a commercial pilot. That is what Trump himself said, who otherwise very rarely admits his mistakes.
Tried to ban the publication of the book
After his brother’s death, Trump said he would take care of Mary and her brother Fred III. But when Fred Senior passed away in 1999, Mary and her brother did not get even the approximate wealth that would have belonged to them if their father had been alive. Mary and Fred III. then they learned that Trump’s family had personally influenced the father to reduce the portion belonging to the grandchildren, that is, to change the will.
It almost all ended in court, but Trump made a deal with his nephews and they got a still undisclosed amount, since they signed a confidentiality agreement.
When Trump found out that details from their lives would be published, Trump's youngest brother Robert intervened in the whole story and filed a lawsuit in New York demanding that the printing of the book be stopped. He was referring to the contract they had signed, but the appellate court ruled that the publishing house was not a "party to the proceedings" in that contract and that they had the right to publish the book.
Mary did not advertise in 2015, when Trump announced her candidacy, but when he became president twelve times she wrote on Twitter, "This is the worst night of my life." Posts were subsequently deleted.
The publisher says they have already printed thousands of copies of the book, and have even moved the publication to two weeks earlier, so the book will be on the shelves as early as July 14, the Post reported .
