The backlash of the GUP's fall: 'This is Bandic's big defeat, counting the last days in power'
REGARDING
Zagreb's GUP proposal was overthrown after a week-long drama: the Bandic voted against the HDZ amendments, and the HDZ men countered them by voting against the GUP.
Tomislav Tomasevic from We Can! he said the nerve play was over.
"We, as the opposition, were disciplined and constantly had enough hands to overthrow the GUP. This was obviously a bit too much for the HDZ. I am convinced that the City of Zagreb needs a new GUP for the 21st century and a new mayor for the 21st century," he said. Tomislav Tomasevic.
Continuation of Bandic's political end
He is convinced that this is just a continuation of the political end of Milan Bandic.
"Obviously no agreement was reached between the HDZ and Bandic, but if the profession had not been united, as had the opposition, had it not been for the citizens who sent 31,000 objections, which went to protest, the GUP would have passed. I am convinced this is the mayor. There are more scenarios by the end of his term, but I am convinced this has never happened before that something goes wrong for Bandic, this is his first major defeat and these are his last days in power, "Tomasevic said. .
This may mean a parliamentary election
SDP's Rajko Ostojic said this may mean a parliamentary election.
"Thank you to all the citizens, the profession, the architects, the universities. You did the great thing, we just voted just what you asked for.
"Maybe we are going to the parliamentary elections, maybe this is the beginning of avoiding elections in the HDZ, maybe the city HDZ rejected the decision of Plenkovic. Maybe we are going to the elections. We are ready. This is a victory for citizens and the profession, as Zagreb and Croatia deserve," said Rajko Ostojic.
Bandic's declining power
Renato Petek said this was the most likely scenario.
"This proves that Bandic's power is in decline. It was important for him to make this happen. This coalition did not make this proposal. I hope the HDZ is aware that its power is falling. said Renato Petek.
HDZ's Kazimir Ilijaš believes that by voting they have shown that they are a democratic party and that they hold to the principles and responsibilities.
"We did not support the GUP because our amendments did not pass. But that does not mean that we will not continue our cooperation. We proposed the amendments, our partner did not accept them, so we could not accept the GUP," said Ilias.
Zagreb Mayor Oliver Majic thinks Bandic can restart the GUP procedure in three months.
"I would not comment on relations between coalitions. As the mayor said, there are boundaries in negotiations that cannot be crossed. Nothing spectacular is happening between coalition partners. This stopped the adoption of a quality document," Majic said.
