Hundreds infected: Biggest daily increase in coronavirus disease in the Czech Republic since April 3
Health Minister Adam Vojtech said most new cases had been reported in mining regions in the east of the country
In the Czech Republic, 305 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded on Sunday, the highest daily increase since April 3rd, data from the health ministry showed on Monday.
This is the fourth day in a row that there has been an increase in cases, which now totals 11,603.
Today's number is almost twice as high as two days ago, when 168 new cases were confirmed, and on Sunday there were 260.
As a result of covida-19, 348 people died in that country of 10.7 million.
Health Minister Adam Vojtech said on Monday that most new cases had been reported in mining regions in the east of the country and that he hoped the number would start to fall after testing mining workers and their contacts.
- We are convinced that this situation, although the numbers are quite high, is mostly under control - said Vojtech at a press conference.
The Czech government has gradually lifted most restrictive measures, with the exception of wearing masks indoors and restricting cafe opening hours and holding major cultural events. Mitigation of measures continues, except in the affected regions of Karvina and Frydek-Mistek, where gatherings of more than a hundred people and visits to hospitals and nursing homes will be banned.
