BLAŽENKA ROGAN- TUŽILA HRVTASKE ŠUME

PROSECUTORS OF CROATIAN FORESTS

MOBERS, PSYCHOPATHS AND SOCIOPATHS 'Because of workplace abuse, I wanted to throw myself under the train. And then I said - no, I'll fight! '

Blaženka Rogan

As an occupational safety expert,  Blaženka Rogan  gave a lecture on mobbing at a professional conference in 2008. She also had bad experiences, but no, it wasn't mobbing. Until eight years ago.
Blaženka Rogan is a human resources manager who was motivated by hard work experience to enroll in college once again. She translated her master's research into the book "Moberi: Psychopaths and Sociopaths in the Workplace", which the School Book has published these days. Professional, and yet simply and clearly written, the book could be widely used, from schools to companies, because everywhere where people gather there is abuse and mobbing. It seems simple to you, but are you sure you know what mobbing is?
She faced this on her skin in 2012. Two years later, she was walking along the railroad tracks next to a house in Selska. "I cried a lot, I cried," Blazenka Rogan recalls. That suffering tears the organism apart, you can't live, he says.
"When the train passed, I thought - you won't! You're not! I don’t want my child to suffer, hasn’t he suffered enough? That he suffers because of criminals, I don't give a damn! I will fight as much as I need to! ”He says today. Then she decided: “I will fight, I will go through whatever it takes, but I will prove myself right. It's not my fault, I didn't deserve what was happening to me and I will prove it! ”
Blaženka Rogan first graduated from the Pedagogical Academy and worked in a kindergarten for 22 years, in parallel with her union engagement she completed the study of occupational safety and obtained the title of Master of Integral Safety. For the last 18 years he has been working in Hrvatske šume, mostly in human resources and occupational safety. She sued the company and therefore cannot speak in detail about her case. "I expect justice," he said.

Huge damage

Studying helped her cope with the abuse. “If I wasn’t studying, I was thinking all the time about what was happening to me at work. I found joy in learning, ”he says. Plus self-confidence, a sense of self-affirmation. She has a master's degree in "Damage from mobbing to individual and corporate security." "Among other things, I have proven that mobbing kills. Where do you hear someone talking about mobbing today? ”He asks.
As vice president of Mobing Stop and a member of the Gender Equality Commission at the City Assembly, she fights for mobbing to be recognized as a significant social problem that causes enormous damage to individuals, companies and society as a whole. It is estimated that every fourth person is a victim of mobbing. "After my research, I would dare to say that this is one in three in our country," said Blaženka Rogan.
Through the association and the mobbing clinic, Dr.  Ante Leskura  met hundreds of people with similar experiences. The book quotes Dr.  Davorin Razić : "If a man is a tree, any disease, even cancer, destroys one branch, and mobbing destroys an entire tree." Due to frequent abuse, devaluation and belittling, mental and physical health suffers.
In the book "Moberi", Blaženka Rogan describes a number of situations that probably every employee has experienced. But not every humiliation at work is mobbing. Mobbing is psychological abuse in the workplace that harms the human dignity, physical or mental health of the victim. Abuse is experienced at least once a week, for six months.
He cites a number of examples in the book: “They wanted to get rid of him, so they transferred the manager, without any official decision, to a smaller office, on the side, without any work assignments, with a phone that was not connected. He killed himself a few months later. It can seem completely harmless - one day they turn their backs on you, start negotiating without you. The victim is entrusted with useless and humiliating work tasks with unsustainable desires, he is asked to work late in the evening or on weekends, and then this 'urgent' job ends up in the trash.
Most suffer in silence, hiding what is happening to them from family and friends, out of guilt, fear and shame. Over time, the victim increasingly blames himself. She has already tried everything, ignored, denied, corrected and accepted, but without success. She becomes tired, lost, confused, angry and upset as she tries in vain to satisfy the unreasonable demands of the abuser. Fear of even more violence and fear of one’s own future intensify the abuser’s actions.
The abuser can be the boss, but they can also be colleagues at the same level, sometimes a subordinate mobbing the boss.
There are no rules, there is a lot of mobbing in state-owned companies and private individuals, she remembers a bakery worker who said that they threw hard pastries at her head. “In schools, everywhere. It's just that everyone is silent, because they are afraid of being fired. "
One woman called her crying, said she was at the top of the building, she was beside herself, she said she was going to kill herself. She is alive today, at a new job. "She's recovered, though the man never fully recovers."

Satisfied worker

Pressure and mobbing are used by many to force employees to leave on their own. If you fire him, the worker will file a lawsuit and you will most likely have to bring him back.
Colleagues often show solidarity with the abuser, for fear of their job. Especially if it is threatened by systematization and restructuring, as in our country workers are often forced to fear in their bones. "I will tell you that it is worse than in the camp. In the camp, a man was abused, but there people in suffering are united, they have compassion because they share the pain with each other ", points out Blaženka Rogan.
Is it better to leave? No, because he who leaves, leaves as a loser, she explains. "If I gave a lecture, students would tell me, 'Well, I'd go.' This can be said by someone who is not in that position, but one who is, he bears severe suffering. Such a person is not able to show himself in the best light on a new job. Your health has suffered, you are still in a whirlwind of insults and abuse, and it will take you several years to get out of it. My advice is to stay and fight ", says the author of the book" Moberi ".
He advises the victims to keep a mobbing diary: “Write down what happened and when, the names of the witnesses, the words spoken. Don't retaliate with aggression. "
Profit should come first for the employer, and that requires a satisfied employee. “Tolerating mobbing greatly reduces productivity, because not only is the victim on long sick leave so you had to hire another, the motivation of those who just watched what was happening is also reduced. They are scared, they don't support anyone, they are afraid for their jobs, ”says Rogan. Employers rarely use the options available to them to eliminate mobbing, unaware of how much damage it is doing them. Only a satisfied worker gives the maximum, research has shown. And material stimulation is not crucial for that, ordinary praise is more important. When a man is satisfied at work, he gives his best, functions better both at work and in the family.
Whether mobbing is at work in a company is easy to see - it is reflected in the large turnover of people, the increased number of sick days, the increased number of injuries at work and the bad image of the company.
The best remedy for mobbing is a court ruling. There are few who have enforced their justice in court, but there are some. Blessed Rogan calls such cases the stars in the sky. She hopes for such a star. The victim, if he or she wins the case, has the right to request a public announcement of the verdict. That message, that society has condemned the abuser, pointed a finger and told him, "It's your fault," is healing. Justice is settled. After that, you can recover, Blaženka Rogan is convinced.
