A dramatic action by Brazilian activists took place on the famous Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.
Pripadnici organizacije Rio de Paz (Rio mira) iskopali su na plaže desetke grobova i postavili zlokobne crne križeve. Dramatičan prizor trebao bi, kako su rekli, ukazati na izuzetno loše nošenje brazilskih vlasti s pandemijom novog koronavirusa, uslijed koje je od COVID-a 19 dosad umrlo više od četrdeset tisuća ljudi.
U Brazilu je zabilježeno gotovo 800 tisuća slučajeva zaraze, brojka neprestano raste, a preminulih je dosad 40.276.
Time je Brazil drugi iza Sjedinjenih Američkih Država po broju umrlih od novog koronavirusa, ali brojke pokazuju i kako broj novozaraženih raste brže nego u SAD-u, pa je samo u 24 sata otkriveno više od 12 tisuća novih slučajeva.
Regional health authorities in Brazil on Saturday accused Jair Bolsonara's government of "hiding" coronavirus deaths after a health ministry official expressed doubts about official figures.
Namely, Brazil stopped publishing the total number of deaths, but only started presenting data on deaths in 24 hours, and the websites where these data could be found were closed.
"Brazil is doing the opposite of the rest of the world," said angry activists on banners displayed during the Copacabana graves.
