The disputed 'minimal'
They received government grants of almost two million kunas, and did not pay salaries to workers
More than 1,200 employers have not paid their workers in the past three months, according to a survey by Fininfo. This affected at least 2,300 workers. What is even more worrying, however, is the fact that almost 150 employers on the list of non-payers received support to preserve jobs for March.
Thus, almost 15 percent of the latest list of non-payers received support. These employers did not pay salaries to a total of 550 workers for the period under review, and received grants of HRK 1.77 million for March.
Tax Data
On May 27, the Tax Administration published the latest list of employers who have not paid salaries to their workers for three consecutive months. The list includes a total of 1,237 employers, of which 1,185 are legal entities, and the remaining 53 are natural persons, ie craftsmen. Together, they did not pay salaries for a total of 2,310 workers they employ.
It was explained on the website of the Tax Administration that the data on non-payment of salaries are based on the submitted JOPPD forms in which employers stated non-payment of salaries for the period from January to March this year. The criteria for entry on the list are non-payment of salary for 3 consecutive months or 3 months of non-payment for a period of 6 months. Additionally, it is noted that the list does not contain data on taxpayers who did not submit the JOPPD form, as well as on those who showed non-payment of wages, but not for 3 consecutive months. Also on the list are taxpayers who have not paid their salaries, but have shown the payment of their salaries and are in charge of public benefits as if they had paid their salaries.
In the following, we will focus on the part of the list made up of legal entities, ie 1,185 employers who did not pay salaries for 2,193 workers.
