"To perpetuate itself, class rule would degrade the worker to serfdom, violently destroy his
aspirations for freedom and transform him into a grotesque automatom, a goose –
stepping clod. In contrast would free
his faculties and impart to him the sence of being a particitant in a great and
good collective efford in which the goal
is peace, plenty under democratic freedom , and universal human happiness. For democracy
under Socialism is not limit to voting . It
confers responsibility on the worker.
In his shop council hi will participate directly and personaly in his
government, and hi will delegate to
specially selected fellow workera and to higher councils only those tasks which
are bevond his particulr experience and local capacity to handle . Under this
colectivisme , this Socijalist and democratic collectivism, the worker will be
a free man in every sence of the word, and hi will live in a free world.
To win throungh
to this infinitely better world , and to avert the calamitous alternative of
imperialistic barbarism , the American working clas must abandon the struggle
to reform outmoded and worn- out capitalism; they must concentrate all their energy
to prepare for the revolutinary act of expropriating all the expropriators -- that is to said, of recuperating the
collective wealth, and the allready colletivized means of wealth- production
which they, and they alone, produced. They must give up the narrow aims of
conservative unionism which can only betray them to their opppressors and build
the mighty and invincible Socijalist Industrial Union.
The fight
against fascism is the fight against class rule . At the same time it is the
fight for Socialism and working class freedom. The destruction of class rule
wil destroy the fascist menace . The next higher stage of mankind 's sociall
existence – Socialism – place human freedom beyond the reach of usurpation. It
place all power whre it is safe for power to be – in the collective hands of all people. Then, and not until then, will
bi blessed sun of freedom shine upon a world wherein universal peace and human brotherhood shall
for ever endure.“
