The site is located near the village of Belokamenka in the Arctic region of Murmansk and employs nearly 10,000 people who build a center connected with the Novatek-owned Arctic LNG2 gas megaproject, worth about $ 20 billion.
Murmansk Governor Andrei Chibis said 1,079 workers tested positive for the coronavirus, representing more than 80 percent of those infected in the region.
Princess Anastasia's cruiser, which can accommodate 2,500 people, has been sent to Belokamenka to help stop the spread of the virus, he added.
"The ship is on its way to Murmansk .. to help isolate people," he said at a virtual press conference.
Construction company VelesStroj announced on Friday that a 51-year-old woman who worked as a cleaner passed away from a coronavirus.
Her test was positive on April 23, but she was not hospitalized because her symptoms were mild, the company said.
Chibis told President Vladimir Putin this week that the contagion in Belokamenka was localized and that hospital workers were infected.
"We did not stop the project .. because it is crucial to the economy of the region and the country," he noted.
According to official figures, Russia has nearly 115,000 infected and 1,169 dead from covid-19.
